The method includes detecting a user input, determining, based on the user input, a first communication protocol needed to address the user input, and creating a virtualized network wherein devices that use a second communication protocol are represented via virtualized devices according to the first communication protocol.

In a microprocessor-operated system controller having a light source operated by the microprocessor for indicating the general operating status of the system controller, an apparatus and method for providing ground isolated system diagnostics of data transmitted from the system controller. The apparatus and method is comprised of means for superimposing a bit rate data transmission upon the light source when in a visual ON condition and a ground isolated optical receiver for receiving the superimposed bit rate data transmission, decoding and converting the data transmission to a corresponding electrical signal, and transmitting the bit rate data for interpretation in a monitor device such as a computer and printer.

Apparatus and method for ground isolated system diagnostics

In a system controller having multiple parts including a microprocessor, a main program for execution upon the microprocessor, and at least one clock interrupt handler portion, a method and apparatus for insuring proper operation comprised of providing a main counter and a delay counter in the main program providing a hardware watching timer, and providing in the clock interrupt handler means for starting the hardware watchdog timer and decrementing the main counter of the main program. The hardware watchdog timer reinitializes the main program in the event that the main program fails to respond to the clock interrupt handler and the delay counter reinitializes the main program and the clock interrupt handler in the event that the watchdog timer fails to operate. Therefore, each of the multiple parts of the system controller serve to insure the functionality of the other parts.
