The invention concerns a rotation angle sensor, in particular a steering angle sensor () for a steering unit, with a housing () comprising an exterior (), a pick-up sensor () arranged in a sensor chamber in the housing () to perform rotary movements around a rotation axis, and a stationary receiver interacting with the pick-up sensor (). It is endeavored to make such steering angle sensors fit for rough environmental conditions. For this purpose, the sensor chamber is connected to the exterior () via at least one free space ().

The invention provides a method and a system for moving an element, e.g. a rudder of a ship or a wheel of a vehicle. The element is moved by a hydraulic fluid. According to the invention, an operator indicates a desired movement, and in accordance with the desired movement, at fluid is provided from at least three fluid providers each providing a share of the fluid in parallel streams and only considering the desired movement not the shares provided by the other fluid providers. The invention allows continuation of a steering task even if one fluid provider is disabled, and the invention allows the continuation even without having to notice that one provider is disabled. Accordingly, the invention provides an improvement and simplification relative to the known hydraulic steering systems.

Actuator control system

The invention provides a steering system for a vehicle, a ship etc. The steering system has a steering handle for the operator of the vehicle, a set of signal processors, a sensor which determines a position of the steered element of the vehicle, and a controller which moves the steered element. The steered element could e.g. be the front wheels of a car. The signal processors are adapted to determine an error between the desired position of the steered element and an actual position of the steered element. In order to make the steering system more fault tolerant, the error signal is amplified based on the speed by which the steering handle is moved, and an error in the sensor therefore becomes less critical. The invention further provides a steering method, a steering control unit and a vehicle provided with a steering system of the mentioned kind.

Steer by wire control system

An electrical steering system for a vehicle includes an electrically supplied steering motor arrangement which is connected with an inverter arrangement, whose output voltage is influenced by a computer arrangement, and a sensor arrangement. To reduce the cost of the steering system while also allowing the steering system to be steerable during braking in the case of a fault, the steering motor arrangement has a redundant steering motor which is connected with the computer arrangement via two separately run control circuits. The control circuits have separate electric supplies and the computer arrangement is redundant.

Electrical steering system

A hydraulic steering arrangement with a steering handwheel which is connected with a hydraulic steering unit, and with a steering motor connected with a pump via a steering valve. In a steering arrangement of this kind, a simple construction is desired, though under maintenance of the required security. For this purpose, the steering valve can optionally be operated by a steering handwheel or by a hydraulic pressure generated by a control pressure generator.

Hydraulic steering arrangement

A steering device with a steering angle transducer, a steering drive having a motor and a first gear, at least one wheel driven by the steering drive and a sensor arrangement for detecting the angle position of the wheel with a detection device, which produces a reference signal for at least one reference position of the steering device. In this connection, it is desired to improve the reliability of the steering device. For this purpose, the detection device is connected with the motor via a second gear.

Steering device

The invention concerns a steering arrangement ( ) with a steering handwheel ( ), which is unrotatably connected with a steering sensor, and with a wheel ( ) steered by a steering drive ( ) without a mechanically active connection between steering handwheel ( ) and steered wheel ( ). In this steering arrangement a simple way of realizing a counter action of the steered wheel on the steering handwheel ( ) is wanted. For this purpose the steering sensor is made as an electrical machine ( ), which works as a generator, for the production of a steering signal and is connected with a switching device ( ), whose load behavior is variable.

Steering arrangement

Hydraulic steering arrangement ( ) with a steering handwheel ( ), which is connected with a manual. pump ( ), a pump ( ) supplying hydraulic fluid, a steering motor ( ) and a steering valve ( ) arranged between pump ( ) and steering motor ( ) and having a valve element ( ) steering the flow of hydraulic fluid between the pump ( ) and the steering motor ( ), the valve element ( ) being displaceable by hydraulic pressures originating from the manual pump. In such a steering arrangement it is wanted to create the opportunity of implementing various functions, without having to abandon the ordinary hydraulic control. For this purpose, the valve element ( ) has an additional drive ( ).

The invention concerns a compact drive with an electric motor, a frequency converter and a gear. Such a drive should be made in the most compact way possible. For this purpose frequency converter is arranged at one front end of the motor and the gear is arranged at the other front end of the motor.

Compact drive

Apparatus for controlling the movement of hydraulically movable work equipment that is arranged at the end of a length-adjustable and pivotable arm, along a substantially rectilinear path of movement, the work equipment being moved with the assistance of hydraulic drive units that act on the arm in dependence on input control signals that determine the path of movement. Even in the case of non-ideal control loops for the control of the drive units, it is intended that the work equipment be moved along a desired path. For that purpose, starting from an actual position of the work equipment, a sequence of desired positions in the path of movement is ascertained and the work equipment is moved from an actual position to the next desired position, the movement into the next position not being initiated until the work equipment is located in a predetermined tolerance band about the preceding position.
