Apparatuses and methods disclosed herein relate to various embodiments of wound fillers that, in some cases, preferentially collapse in one direction as compared to another direction. Such apparatuses and methods may aid in the closure of wounds and may further be used in combination with pressure sensors and controllers to provide for controlled collapse of the wound fillers.

Compressible wound fillers and systems and methods of use in treating wounds with negative pressure

Examples of a negative pressure wound closure system and methods for using such a system are presented. Certain embodiments facilitate closure of the wound by preferentially contracting to provide for movement of the tissue. Certain embodiments can utilize tissue securing portions that aid in securing the system within a wound.

Some arrangements disclosed herein relate to devices and methods for treating a wound, comprising applying negative pressure to the wound through a cover applied over a wound, monitoring the internal pressure in the wound, and controlling the closure of the wound by controlling the amount that a wound packing material positioned under the cover collapses within the wound based on the monitored internal pressure. The wound packing material collapse can be controlled to ensure that the monitored internal pressure does not exceed a threshold value. Additionally, some embodiments or arrangements disclosed herein relate to a visualization element to visualize a location of a wound surface. The visualization element can comprise a radiopaque member that is configured to be positioned on or adjacent to a surface of an open wound.

Apparatuses and methods for wound therapy

The present invention relates to a negative pressure wound closure system and methods for using such a system. Preferred embodiments of the invention facilitate closure of the wound by preferentially contracting to provide for movement of the tissue. Preferred embodiments can utilize tissue grasping elements to apply a wound closing force to the tissue.

A wound dressing for use in the application of negative pressure to a wound, comprising a support member and a cover member positionable over the wound in use. The support member can have a first support element having a first portion aligned with a first axis and a body portion coupled with and extending away from the first portion, and a second support element having a first portion aligned with the first axis and a body portion coupled with and extending away from the first portion of the second support element. At least the body portion of each of the first support element and the second support element can be independently rotatable about the first axis. Certain embodiments described herein are directed to an elongated layer of material and a lip to be placed in contact with a wound and the elongated layer of material to be wrapped around a wound filler, their methods of use and systems incorporating the same, wherein the wound filler lip is configured to be positioned beneath the fascia.
