An intervertebral spacer assembly may include a first intervertebral spacer with a superior surface configured to engage a superior vertebral body, an inferior surface configured to engage an inferior vertebral body, and a proximal surface with a first fastener channel. The assembly may further include a first fastener and a locking member with a first anti-backout member. The first intervertebral spacer or the locking member may have a locking member channel. The other may have a compressible collet insertable into the locking member channel to couple the locking member to the first intervertebral spacer such that the locking member is rotatable relative to the first intervertebral spacer between an unlocked position in which the first anti-backout member does not obstruct the first fastener channel, and a locked position in which the first anti-backout member obstructs the first fastener channel to retain the first fastener in the first fastener channel.

Spinal surgery devices, systems, and methods

A bone anchor system may include a bone anchor assembly and a driver tool. The bone anchor assembly may generally include a bone screw, a collar member, and a tulip member. The collar member may include first and second retaining arms configured to receive a retaining feature of the driver tool. The driver tool may be removably couplable to the bone anchor assembly by inserting the retention feature between the first and second retaining arms of the collar member, such that the retention feature is retained by the first and second retaining arms of the collar member.

Spinal surgery systems and methods

An intervertebral spacer may include a superior surface configured to engage a superior vertebral body, an inferior surface configured to engage an inferior vertebral body, and a peripheral wall extending from the superior surface to the inferior surface. A proximal end of the peripheral wall may include with a cam surface that is rotatable against a complementary cam surface of an inserter tool such that a first force causes the intervertebral spacer to pivot, relative to the inserter tool, about a pivot point associated with the cam surface.

An insertion assembly may include a DTS guide and an inserter tool configured to couple an intervertebral spacer having a fastener channel configured to receive a fastener and a locking member channel with a first engagement feature. The inserter tool may include a second engagement feature configured to engage the first engagement feature and removably couple the inserter tool with the intervertebral spacer. The DTS guide may include a shaft lumen configured to receive the inserter tool and slidably couple with the inserter tool. The DTS guide may also include a DTS guide channel configured to receive the fastener and a DTS guide wing. The DTS guide wing may abut against a surface of the intervertebral spacer to align the DTS guide channel with the fastener channel and guide the fastener through the DTS guide channel and into the fastener channel.

Spinal surgery assemblies, systems, and methods

An insertion assembly may include a flexible tool and a DTS guide configured to engage an intervertebral spacer having a fastener channel oriented at a first angle. The DTS guide may include a DTS guide channel oriented at the first angle which may be aligned with the fastener channel. The flexible tool may include a flexible shaft and a working member disposed at a distal end of the flexible shaft. The working member may be received through the DTS guide channel at the first angle. At least a portion of the flexible shaft adjacent the DTS guide member may flex while the working member is received through the DTS guide channel, such that a distal portion of the flexible shaft may be at a greater absolute angle relative to a DTS guide shaft than a proximal portion of the flexible shaft.

Spinal surgery instruments, systems, and methods

An intervertebral spacer may include a fastener channel configured to receive a fastener, a locking member channel, and a locking member. The locking member channel may include an inner wall and one or more inner wall engagement features. The locking member may include an anti-backout member, a collet retainable within the locking member channel, and one or more collet engagement features. The locking member may be rotatable within the locking member channel between an unlocked position and a locked position. The one or more collet engagement features may engage the one or more inner wall engagement features in order to retain the locking member in either the unlocked position or the locked position, such that the anti-backout member may selectively obstruct the fastener channel and prevent the fastener from backing out of the fastener channel.

A clamp assembly for orthopedic use having a housing that includes a top surface, a recess, a distal base and a bottom surface, the recess defining a longitudinal axis and extending through the housing from the top surface through the distal base and toward the bottom surface, and at least two through slots, each one of being disposed at a bottom or a side a surface of the housing. The assembly including a securement assembly positionable within the recess in a co-axial relationship to a mating surface on the recess, and a band sized for travel along a predetermined path defined in part by the through slots in the housing, wherein at least one of the through slots is a starting point for travel of the band along the predetermined path.

A medical device includes a spinal rod receiving channel disposed within the medical device and a rod retaining set screw, wherein the spinal rod receiving channel includes an upper arc having a first end and second end, a first middle arc connected to the first end of the upper arc, a second middle arc connected to the second end of the upper arc and disposed opposite the first middle arc, connecting slants connected to first and second middle arcs, and a lower arc connected to the connecting slants, and the rod retaining set screw configured to secure a spinal rod disposed in the spinal rod receiving channel into the medical device.

A band clamp tensioning system that includes a tensioning instrument that has a hollow body with proximal and distal ends that define a longitudinal axis, and a travel slot, a tension tightening rod disposed co-axially within the hollow body, and a carriage assembly for receiving and tensioning a band, the carriage assembly disposed co-axially within the hollow body and having a center aperture through which the tension tightening rod is inserted, and a carriage that includes at least one channel for inserting a band, and a band securing mechanism. In use the carriage moves axially between proximal and distal ends within the slot along the exterior surface of the hollow body when the tightening rod is manipulated. The system also includes a clamp housing and a band that can be tensioned around bone with the tensioning instrument and secured to the clamp housing with a locking element.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed toward a system of apparatuses to correct spinal deformities along with associated surgical techniques. The apparatuses comprise passages or channels in which spinal rods of differing diameters may be secured to allow a surgeon to vary the diameter of rods used along the length of the spine. Additionally, embodiments of the present invention are directed toward instrumentation for reduction of spinal rods into spinal pedicle screws.
