Polypropylene polymer compositions are disclosed that can be formulated to have excellent clarity properties in conjunction with excellent impact resistance properties at subzero temperatures. The polypropylene polymer compositions are heterophasic compositions containing a first phase polymer combined with a second phase polymer. The first phase polymer is a polypropylene and alpha-olefin copolymer while the second phase polymer is also a polypropylene and alpha-olefin random copolymer. The second phase polymer contains relatively high amounts of ethylene. The increased amounts of ethylene in the second phase polymer were found to dramatically improve impact resistance at subzero temperatures.

Polypropylene polymer compositions are disclosed that have excellent stiffness properties. The polypropylene polymer compositions are made by combining a first polypropylene polymer with a second polypropylene polymer. The combination of polymers has been found to produce a composition having high stiffness properties in addition to excellent toughness properties. In addition, the polymer composition has good flow properties for being molded into various products and articles. Of particular advantage, the different polypropylene polymers can be produced at relatively high catalyst activity, especially in comparison to high crystalline polymers made in the past.

Propylene and alpha olefin random copolymers are disclosed that have excellent flow characteristics. For instance, the copolymers can be formulated so as to have a melt flow rate of greater than about 45 g/10 min. While still retaining the above flow characteristics, the copolymer can also be formulated to have greater stiffness, low xylene soluble content, and excellent transparency characteristics especially when combined with one or more clarifying agents.

Propylene-ethylene random copolymers with low XS/ET ratio and high MFR

Propylene-ethylene copolymer compositions and production methods are provided. The copolymer compositions can be particularly advantageous for use in hot fill packaging of foodstuffs. The propylene-ethylene copolymers can be produced using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst and an alkoxysilane electron donor. The compositions can have propylene as a primary monomer with an ethylene content ranging from 2.0 to 6.0 percent by weight with a xylene soluble content of less than 7.0 percent by weight.

The present invention provides polymer compositions having improved corrosivity, color stability and clarity. Also disclosed is a process of preparing the polymers. The process may comprise incorporating into the polymer an acid neutralizing amount of an amorphous aluminum silicate. The amorphous aluminum silicate may be present in the polymer in an amount such that the polymer composition having a Corrosivity Index of less than 6. A refractive index of the amorphous aluminum silicate may be the same or substantially the same as a refractive index of the polymer.

A process comprising polymerizing olefin monomers and optionally comonomers in a first reactor vessel, thereby forming a raw product stream comprising polymerized solids, unreacted monomer and optionally comonomer, the polymerized solids comprising olefin polymer, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and catalyst system. Then the polymerized solids are contacted with a catalyst poison selected from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, water, alcohols, amines, or mixtures thereof, thereby forming a passivated stream. The passivated stream is maintained in an agitated state within a second reactor. The passivated stream within the second reactor is then contacted with a circulating gas comprising unreacted monomer for a residence time, thereby reducing the concentration of VOC in the polymerized solids by at least 10 wt % compared to the level before entering the second reactor, thereby forming a purified olefin polymer solids stream.

A process comprising polymerizing propylene and an olefin comonomer selected from Cor C-Cwith a Ziegler Natta catalyst system and hydrogen in a single gas-phase reactor, to form a propylene polymer, at a temperature range of from 78 to 92&#xb0; C. with a H/Cmolar ratio of 0.005 to 0.25, the catalyst system comprising: a solid catalyst component comprising a transition metal compound, a Group 2 metal compound, an internal electron donor comprising a substituted phenylene aromatic di ester; an activity limiting agent; an organo-aluminum compound; and an external electron donor composition comprising at least one silane, wherein if the olefin comonomer is ethylene it is present in the propylene polymer in an amount from 1.0-7.0 wt % based on the total weight of the propylene polymer, and if the olefin comonomer is C-C, it is present in an amount from 1.0-15.0 mol % based on the total amount of the propylene polymer.

Process for producing propylene copolymers with low VOC content

Polypropylene polymer compositions are disclosed that can be formulated to have excellent transparency properties in conjunction with excellent impact resistance properties. The polypropylene polymer compositions are heterophasic compositions containing a first phase polymer combined with a second phase polymer. The first phase polymer is a polypropylene and alpha-olefin copolymer while the second phase polymer is also a polypropylene and alpha-olefin random copolymer. The first phase polymer contains ethylene in an amount less than 5% by weight and is present in an amount greater than the second phase polymer. The second phase polymer has elastomeric properties.

Transparent polypropylene copolymer composition having impact resistance

The present disclosure provides compositions, films and articles containing a random propylene/ethylene copolymer and a substituted phenylene aromatic diester. Polymerization with an improved catalyst system increases the amount of ethylene incorporated into the random propylene/ethylene copolymer backbone which results in improved thermal properties, improved optical properties, and improved heat seal properties.

A composition is provided which comprises a propylene ethylene random copolymer having a melt flow rate (MFR) (as determined according to ASTM D1238, 230&#xb0; C., 2.16 Kg) of less than 1 g/10 min, a xylene solubles content of less than 7% by weight, an ethylene content of from 3 to 5 percent by weight of the copolymer, and a value equal to or greater than 92 for the product of the Koenig B value times the % mm triads measured on the xylene insoluble fraction of the random copolymer obtained by the wet method. Pipes made from the composition demonstrate improved pressure endurance.

The present disclosure provides a process for producing propylene-based polymer. The process includes contacting, under polymerization conditions in a gas phase polymerization reactor, propylene monomer and optionally one or more comonomers with a Ziegler-Natta catalyst composition. The process includes maintaining the temperature of a reaction zone of the reactor at a temperature from greater than 72&#xb0; C. to less than or equal to 85&#xb0; C., and forming a propylene-based polymer having a molecular weight (M) greater than 100,000, and a M/Mless than 2.20. The resultant propylene-based polymer is advantageous in fiber applications.

Propylene-based polymer with reduced high-molecular weight portion

A polypropylene impact copolymer is disclosed. The propylene impact copolymer composition comprises from 60 to 90 percent by weight of the impact copolymer composition of a matrix phase, which can be a homopolymer polypropylene or random polypropylene copolymer having from 0.1 to 7 mol percent of units derived from ethylene or C-Calpha olefins. The propylene impact copolymer composition also comprises from 10 to 40 percent by weight of the impact copolymer composition of a dispersed phase, which comprises a propylene/alpha-olefin copolymer having from 6 to 40 mol percent of units derived from ethylene or C-Calpha olefins, wherein the dispersed phase has a comonomer content which is greater than the comonomer content in the matrix phase. The propylene impact copolymer composition is further characterized by having the ratio of the dispersed phase intrinsic viscosity (IV) to the matrix phase IV being 0.95 or less. The polypropylene impact copolymers of the present invention are well suited for making spunbond fibers which can be used to make nonwoven fabrics having good haptics.

The present invention relates to polymer compositions comprising a propylene impact copolymer and a processing aid, as well as corrugated boards made from such compositions. The impact copolymer has a melt flow range of from 1.5 to 3.5 g/10 min and a dispersed phase content of from 5 to 30% by weight. The dispersed phase of the impact copolymer has an ethylene content of from 30- to 70% by weight of the dispersed phase. The matrix phase of the impact copolymer is a propylene homopolymer or a random copolymer comprising units derived from propylene and a second copolymer selected from either ethylene or 1-butene wherein the units derived from the second copolymer comprise from 0 to 5% by weight of the dispersed phase.

Disclosed is a multimodal propylene impact copolymer composition with improved stiffness while maintaining good impact strength. The continuous phase has a broad PI and provides the multimodal propylene impact copolymer composition with excellent processability. Thermoformed articles made from the multimodal propylene impact copolymer exhibit improved rigidity and good impact strength.
