A multipurpose compostable absorption mat serves to receive and encapsulate organic matter for compostable disintegration of the mat and organic matter simultaneously. The mat comprises at least three portions: a first portion facing the organic matter defined by a parchment paper or parchment-like material having multiple pinholes or other openings or porosity sized and dimensioned to enable passage of greases and/or liquids; a second portion outboard of the first portion defined by a deliquescent material, and is able to absorb the greases and/or liquids from the first portion through a capillary mechanism; and a third portion outboard of the second portion defined by an impermeable plant/corn starch-based plastic-like material. The third portion looks and feels like plastic film. The at least three portions of the mat may be formed as at least three discrete layers, with the three discrete layers attached to one another so as to form the mat, with the mat having a thickness in the range from about that of a sheet of paper or a paper towel or a napkin to about ¾″ or more.

Multipurpose compostable absorption mat

A direct intracardiac imaging catheter capable of entering chambers of the heart and providing an image through a vein or an artery percutaneously, or through direct access during open surgery. The intracardiac imaging catheter apparatus is a small optical fiber imaging system. The catheter is deflectable and capable of navigating within all heart chambers to acquire detailed images, and adjacent large vessels during percutaneous cardiac procedures. The catheter can access the arterial system to acquire blood vessel images. It can pass through the intra-atrial septum (foramen ovale) for cardiac procedures in the left chambers and large vessels adjacent the left heart, including pulmonary veins and the aorta. During open heart surgery, images can be provided from hard to access regions including the back of the heart during off pump cardiac surgery. The apparatus includes balloon tip that can be inflated and deflected based the movement of catheter.

Intracardiac imaging catheter

A wireless stethoscope provides a method of listening, recording and diagnosis of heart, lung, abdominal, vascular and other visceral organs sounds in place of a standard stethoscope. Simultaneous transfer of data occurs from the wireless stethoscope to an earpiece and a computing device, or an electronic medical records system, for recording, transmitting and analyzing information obtained from physical examination to provide a provisional diagnosis. A digital membrane portion has the capability to transmit sounds and subtle vibrations. The device measures acoustic transmissions that may include airborne transmission, impact transmission and flanking transmission. The device is capable of transmitting sound directly through an earbud port or to provide analog data for digital conversion and transmission of digital information. Further, the device includes sound wave control and noise reduction. The device can be switched from a bell to a membrane mode.
