Systems and methods for measuring oxygen in a patient's bloodstream

The disclosure relates to accurately determining a DC energy signal, such as a DC current or DC voltage, which may be particularly useful when controlling a formation/testing current of a battery cell during formation and/or testing. In the battery formation/testing context, a current sensor is used to measure the current of the battery cell, which is used as a feedback signal for controlling the current to achieve a target current. The transfer function of the current sensor is used to improve the accuracy of the current measurement. Because the transfer function can be regularly determined during formation/testing, a lower-cost current sensor with relatively poor temperature coefficient may be used. Any change in the gain of the current sensor may be detected by the transfer function determination and corrected for. Therefore, high current control accuracy may be achieved at lower cost.

DC signal measurement and battery formation/testing

Techniques for controlling a current of a battery cell during formation and/or testing are described. A current sensor is used to measure the current of the battery cell, which is used as a feedback signal for controlling the current to achieve a target current. The transfer function of the current sensor is used to improve the accuracy of the current measurement. Because the transfer function can be regularly determined during formation/testing, a lower-cost current sensor with relatively poor temperature coefficient may be used. Any change in the gain of the current sensor may be detected by the transfer function determination and corrected for. Therefore, high current control accuracy may be achieved at lower cost.

Battery formation/testing

Techniques for improving noise performance while processing signals received from an electrochemical sensor are provided. In an example, an interface circuit can include a first amplifier configured to provide a voltage to a counter electrode of an electrochemical sensor, a second amplifier configured to receive sensor information from a working electrode of the electrochemical sensor and to provide concentration information using the sensor information. In certain examples, an input of the first amplifier can be directly coupled to an input of the second amplifier to attenuate noise, of either the first amplifier or the second amplifier, within the concentration information provided by the second amplifier.

A blood oxygenation sensor is provided comprising: a first current-powered light source to produce light having a first wavelength; a second current-powered light source to produce light having a second wavelength; a light sensor to produce a current signal having a magnitude that is indicative of intensity of light incident upon it; a current level driver circuit that includes a current source configured to couple the current source to alternatively provide current to one of the first current-powered light source and the second light current-powered light source; a processor configured to predict times of occurrence of one or more first time intervals in which arterial volume at a tissue site is at one of a maximum and a minimum; wherein the processor is configured to control the current source, to provide a first pattern of higher power-dissipation current pulses to the first and second current-powered light sources during the first time intervals, and to provide a second pattern of lower power-dissipation current pulses to at least one of the first and second current-powered light sources during second time intervals.

Blood oxygenation sensor with LED current modulation

The present disclosure relates to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) which includes a resistor string and a transfer function modification circuit. The transfer function modification circuit may be a calibration circuit for calibrating the DAC, The calibration circuit may include a plurality of current sources, which may be current DACs. Each of the current DACS inject current into, or drain current from, a respective node of the resistor string, in order to correct for voltage errors. The injected currents may be positive or negative, depending on the voltage error. The current DACs are controlled by trim codes, which are set dependent on the measured or simulated voltage errors for a given resistor string.

Digital-to-analog converter transfer function modification

An integrated circuit may include a semiconductor die having a trench formed in a surface of the semiconductor die. One or more circuit components may be formed on the surface of the semiconductor die. The trench can extend into the semiconductor die next to at least one circuit component. The trench may surround the circuit component partially or wholly. The trench may be filled with a material having a lower bulk modulus than the semiconductor die in which the trench is formed.

Localized strain relief for an integrated circuit

An example transconductance circuit is provided in accordance with one embodiment. The transconductance circuit can comprise: an output node; at least one transistor; a variable resistance; and a differential amplifier; wherein the at least one transistor and the variable resistance are in series connection with the output node, an output of the differential amplifier is connected to a control node of the at least one transistor, a first input of the amplifier is responsive to an input signal, and a second input of the amplifier is responsive to a voltage across the variable resistance. Such a circuit may overcome noise problems in transconductance circuits which operate over a wide range of input signals with a fixed resistor in series with the at least one transistor.

Tri-level scrambling in a digital to analog converter system is achieved by, in response to a tri-level binary code input, disabling a negative data directed scrambler circuit when the input code is in the positive cycle portion, disabling a positive data directed scrambler circuit when the input code is in the negative cycle portion and disabling both scrambler circuits upon a zero input code for reducing low level distortion due to a reversal of current during crossover between those cycles.

Digital to analog converter system and method with multi-level scrambling

A digital to analog converter (DAC) module receives an input digital signal having a first data rate and is associated with a first frequency, the DAC module also receiving a synchronization signal having a second frequency that is higher than the first frequency. The DAC module includes an up-sampling circuit to generate a first digital signal having bit values of the input digital signal alternating with zero values, the first digital signal having a data rate that is higher than the first data rate; a delay circuit to delay the first digital signal by a time period to generate a second digital signal; a first DAC cell to generate a first analog signal based on the first digital signal, the first DAC cell being synchronized by the synchronization signal; a second DAC cell to generate a second analog signal based on the second digital signal, the second DAC cell being synchronized by the synchronization signal; and an adder to sum the first and second analog signals and generate a third analog signal.

Current steering digital-to-analog converter

An open drain driver () selectively switches a MOSFET switch (MN) which is passively held in the conducting state into the non-conducting state. The MOSFET switch (MN) switches an AC analogue input signal on a main input terminal () to a main output terminal () and the gate of the MOSFET switch (MN) is AC coupled by a capacitor (C) to the drain thereof. The open drain driver () comprises a first MOSFET (MN) and a second MOSFET (MN) through which the gate of the MOSFET switch (MN) is pulled to ground (V). The gate of the first MOSFET (MN) is coupled to the supply voltage (V) for maintaining the first MOSFET (MN) in the open state. A control signal is applied to the gate of the second MOSFET (MN) for selectively operating the open drain driver () in the conducting state for operating the MOSFET switch (MN) in the non-conducting state. When the second MOSFET (MN) is in the non-conducting state, the first MOSFET (MN) remains in the conducting state until the voltage on a coupling node () between the first and second MOSFETs (MN,MN) equals the difference between its gate voltage and its threshold voltage, at which stage, any over-voltages applied to the gate of the MOSFET switch (MN) are divided between the first and second MOSFETs (MN,MN). A coupling diode (D) coupling the coupling node () to the supply voltage (V) clamps the voltage on the coupling node () at the supply voltage (V) plus the conducting voltage of the diode (D), in the event of the voltage on the coupling node () rising after the first MOSFET (MN) has gone into the non-conducting state. The coupling node () may be capacitively coupled to the supply voltage (V) by a coupling capacitor instead of or as well as the diode (D) for limiting the voltage on the coupling node ().

The present invention relates to a method and system for reducing integral non linearity errors in a pipeline Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). The invention provides in a first embodiment a method comprising the steps of: adding an analog dither signal to the analog input signal of a pipeline Analog to Digital Converter, and converting the analog input signal to a digital output signal by means of the pipeline Analog to Digital Converter. The amplitude of the analog dither signal is determined by the architecture of the Analog to Digital Converter. The invention also provides in a second embodiment a circuit comprising a pipeline analog to digital converter for converting an analog input signal to a digital output signal and a feedback circuit coupled to the converter such that the digital output signal is adapted to have an average non linearity error value of about zero LSBs.
