An apparatus to convert linear motion to rotary motion comprising a linear reciprocating member including a track drive member to be coupled to an input device and a rotatable track member including a track to be coupled to an output device wherein the track drive member is disposed to engage the track such that when the input device moves the linear reciprocating member back and forth the track drive member moves along the track rotating the rotatable track member to convert the linear motion imparted to the linear reciprocating member by the input device to the rotary motion of the rotatable track member to operate or drive the output device.

Apparatus to convert linear motion to rotary motion

The present invention is helical follower internal combustion engine. The present invention has a smooth, cylindrical follower orthogonally attached to a piston rod. The follower fits into two connected half-cylindrical, helical grooves formed by a two-piece cylindrical sleeve. The two-piece cylindrical sleeve is attached to a rotating cylindrical hub. Reciprocal motion of the piston causes rotation of the rotating cylindrical hub. The present invention has a feature that prevents the piston from rotating. The present invention can create electricity by connecting a rotor coil to the rotating cylindrical hub and placing a stator coil in near proximity. In an alternative embodiment, the present invention has an external drive shaft attached to the rotating cylindrical hub.

Helical follower internal combustion engine

Techniques for implementing operating system layering are described herein. In one example, a method includes managing one or more container temporary storage spaces and one or more container runtime environments. Furthermore, the method includes loading, one or more drivers to provide compatibility between a container operating system and a host operating system, the one or more drivers comprising application program interface (API) compatibility libraries to enable API compatibility between the container operating system and the host operating system; metadata arbitration logic to enable compatibility between the container operating system and the host operating system by modifying container operating system references; and file arbitration logic to modify operating system file locations accessed by the container operating system and the host operating system.

Operating system layering

Enforcing limitations on hardware drivers. The method includes from a system kernel, assigning I/O resources to the system's root bus. From the root bus, the method further includes assigning a subset of the I/O resources to a device bus. Assigning a subset of the I/O resources to a device bus includes limiting the device bus to only be able to assign I/O resources that are assigned to it by the root bus. From the device bus, the method includes assigning I/O resources to a device through a device interface.

Capability based device driver framework

An apparatus comprises a vessel comprising an open top, an open bottom, and a wall. The vessel encompasses a volume of material and fluid. A bottom assembly removably engages the open bottom. A lid assembly removably engages the open top. A plunger unit comprises a top end and a bottom end. The plunger unit passes through the lid assembly to extend to at least the open bottom. A filter assembly is in engagement with the bottom end and the cylinder wall. The filter assembly substantially separates the material and fluid with a movement of the plunger unit towards the open bottom and compresses the material against the bottom assembly. The separated fluid is removable from the open top, and the compressed material is removable by a disengagement of the bottom assembly and continued movement of the filter assembly towards the open bottom.

Coffee press apparatus

A device driver includes a kernel mode and a user-mode module. The device driver may access device registers while operating in user-mode to promote system stability while providing a low-latency software response from the system upon interrupts. The device driver may include kernel stubs that are loaded into the operating system, and may be device specific code written. The stubs may be called by a reflector to handle exceptions caught by the stubs. A reset stub may be invoked by the reflector when the user-mode module or host terminates abruptly or detects an interrupt storm. The reset stub may also be invoked if errant direct memory access DMA operations are being performed by a hardware device. The reset stub may ensure that hardware immediately stops unfinished DMA from further transfer, and may be called by the user-mode driver module.

Synchronizing split user-mode/kernel-mode device driver architecture

Searching for patterns stored on a hardware storage device. A method includes, as part of a memory refresh operation, performing a read to read contents of a portion of a memory. The method further includes writing the read contents of the portion of memory back to the portion of memory. The read contents are provided to data comparison logic. Using the data comparison logic; the read contents are compared to predetermined data patterns. A determination is made as to whether or not the contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns. When the read contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns, a software readable indicator is provided indicating that the read contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns. Similar embodiments may be implemented using hard drive head wear leveling operations.

Utilization of memory refresh cycles for pattern matching

A device driver includes a kernel stub and a user-mode module. The device driver may access device registers while operating in user-mode to promote system stability while providing a low-latency software response from the system upon interrupts. Upon receipt of an interrupt, the kernel stub may run an interrupt service routine and write information to shared memory. Control is passed to the user-mode module by a reflector. The user-mode module may then read the information from the shared memory to continue servicing the interrupt.

Split user-mode/kernel-mode device driver architecture

The present invention relates to a system and methodology to facilitate automatic interactions between a highly threaded software environment such as an operating system kernel and a module operating in a less threaded environment. This is achieved by supplying adapter objects that employ various automated locking components to synchronize interactions between the environments such as processing of events or interrupts that may be generated in the system. In one aspect, a driver management system is provided that includes a driver framework component (DFC) that is separate from a driver or other type module, wherein the DFC generates objects that facilitate seamless interactions between the driver and a highly threaded system. A presentation component associated with the DFC selectively exposes objects to the driver in a multi-threaded environment.

Driver framework component for synchronizing interactions between a multi-threaded environment and a driver operating in a less-threaded software environment

The present invention relates to a system and methodology to facilitate automatic interactions between a client component and an object supported by an operating system framework. Various components provide automatic locking, or serialization of code execution during selected processing of events that are generated by the object and directed to the client component. The system framework provides automated synchronization services for processing events to a client program. Automated event processing can be configured such that, automated processing can be turned off for all or portions of some tasks and turned on for other tasks. In one aspect, a computer-based event handling system is provided having a framework component that supplies classes of objects that can raise events. A synchronization component automatically controls in part synchronization of access to data based on categorization of objects and/or instances defined by the framework.

Automatic serialization for event driven multi-threaded programs in an object structured system

An elastic resistance type exercising device having a single length of latex rubber surgical tubing whose two ends are formed into size handle loops by the use of leather fasteners. The handle loops are sleeved with vinyl tubing, and plugs are inserted in each of the open ends of tubing, that have twice passed through the fasteners to form the loops, to prevent the tubing from being pulled out of the fasteners. A user grasps the handle loops or secures them about his ankles and pulls against the elastic resistance. Two additional flexible sleeves are slidably mounted over the portion of the elastic tubing between the fasteners.
