An electronic transaction method, funds transfer apparatus and method for facilitating a funds transfer. The methods comprise sending information from a purchaser or payor to a funds transfer system separate from a vendor system or payee, validating and confirming personal financial information at the funds transfer system, and transferring funds from a purchaser or payor account to the vendor or a payee account without exposing either party's financial and account information to the other. Additionally, a funds transfer apparatus is disclosed comprising connections to a payor and payee system and mechanisms for receiving and validating party and transaction information and a mechanism for transferring funds from one party to the other.

Electronic purchasing and funds transfer systems and methods

According to the invention, a process for transferring funds in an online transaction between a first party and a second party is disclosed. In one step, a first account associated with the first party and a second account associated with the second party are determined. At least one of the first account and the second account is a bank account. A first transfer is initiated between the first account and a third account. The third account is not associated with either the first party or the second party. Notification is received that the first transfer has cleared. A second transfer between the third account and the second account is initiated before notification that the first transfer has cleared is received.

Online funds transfer method

According to the invention, a process for transferring funds between a payor and a payee in an online transaction is disclosed. In one step, information is received from the payor for debiting a bank account associated with the payor. Authorization is transmitted to the payee to request debits from the payor. The total of all debit requests does not exceed an amount that is authorized. A first request is received from the payee to debit the customer a first portion of the amount. A first debit is initiated from the bank account for the first portion of the amount. A second request is received from the payee to debit the payor a second portion of the amount. A second debit is initiated from the bank account for the second portion of the amount.

Online incremental payment method

According to the invention, a process for authorizing an online purchase between a customer and a vendor site is disclosed. In one step, transaction information is received from the vendor site. A new web browser window is automatically opened for the customer. A transaction amount is presented in a new browser window. The customer is capable of assenting to the transaction amount through interaction with the new web browser window. Authorization is received from the customer of a debit for the transaction amount to cover the online purchase. The vendor site is notified of the authorization.

Online purchasing method

According to the invention, a method for a payor paying a merchant using a payment system is disclosed. In one step, account information is received that can be used for receiving funds using a money handler. The account information identifies an account of the payor. A token is generated that correlates to the account information. The token is sent to the merchant that uniquely identifies the payor and the merchant. The token, which corresponds to a payment, is received. It is authenticated that the token was presented by the merchant. The payment is transferred from the payor to the merchant with the payment system.

Payment system clearing for transactions

According to the invention, a method for transferring funds from a payor to one or more payees using a wide area network when the transfer information is incomplete at some point is disclosed. In one step, initial transfer information for a transfer of funds from the payor to the payee is received. In another step, supplemental transfer information for the transfer of funds from the payor to the payee is received. The transfer of funds from the payor to the payee is completed using both the initial transfer information for the transfer of funds from the payor to the payee and the supplemental transfer information for the transfer of funds from the payor to the payee.

Direct payment with token

A process for facilitating payment between a buyer and a seller with an online money transfer performed over a wide area network is disclosed. In one step, login information relevant to a vending site is received. The login information is associated with the seller. Listings at the vending site associated with the seller are automatically determined. A number of snippets of HTML code are generated for the listings, wherein each snippet includes a link. One of the number of snippets is automatically inserted into each of the listings. Activation of the link points a web browser to a payment enabler that can transfer money from the buyer to the seller.

Buttons for person to person payments

Methods and systems coordinate an Internet-based financial transaction between an Internet merchant and a customer. A first information packet is received with a payment network from the Internet merchant. The first information packet has a credential assigned to the customer and transaction information specifying at least a cost of the Internet-based financial transaction. With the payment network, account information is determined that identifies a financial account maintained by the customer at a financial institution and authorization information that allows debit access to the identified financial account. A second information packet that includes the transaction information, the account information, and the authorization information is generated with the payment network. The second information packet is transmitted with the payment network to the financial institution with a request to perform a debit transaction from the identified financial account for the specified cost of the Internet-based financial transaction.

Methods and systems for online transaction processing

According to the invention, a method for a payor paying a payee using a payment account is disclosed. In one step, information on a number of payment accounts is retrieved. The payment accounts comprise a first payment account and a second payment account. Selection of the first payment account is received. It is determined that the first payment account is inadequate in some respect to pay the payee. A second payment account is suggested to the payor. Which second payment account is suggested could come from the payor's and/or payee's preferences in various embodiments. The payee is paid with the second payment account.

Payment management

A method for facilitating the sale of goods or services comprises receiving at an ordering system payment information relating to a payment instrument that is being used to purchase a good or a service from a merchant. The ordering system transmits a message to the merchant that includes information on the good or service being purchased to permit the merchant to provide the good or service. Funds are collected from an account associated with the payment instrument, and the ordering system transmits to a money transfer computer system information useable by the money transfer computer system to provide a cash payment to the merchant.

Electronic purchase method and funds transfer system

According to the invention, a method for transferring funds from a sender to one or more recipients using a wide-area computer network is disclosed. In one step, transfer information is received from the sender with the wide area computer network to transfer credit to from the sender to a recipient. The transfer information includes at least an identifier and a credit amount. The identifier is generated by the sender. The identifier is unique to the recipient. It is determined if the transfer information is complete. A message is sent to the recipient. Transfer of a transfer amount related to the credit amount is paused based, at least in part, on the transfer information being incomplete. The transfer of the transfer amount is completed after the transfer information is complete.
