A detection system for a vehicle, including at least one detection device operable for detecting objects in a detection area. The detection device also includes a first emission antenna, a first reception antenna, and a plurality of extension portions. One of the plurality of extension portions is integrally formed as part of the first emission antenna, and another of the plurality of extension portions is integrally formed as part of the first reception antenna. The first emission antenna generates an emission wave at a predetermined angle which contacts objects in the first detection area and deflects of the objects in the first detection area, and returns to the first reception antenna as a return wave. In an embodiment, the first emission antenna includes at least one Vivaldi wing, and the first reception antenna includes at least one Vivaldi wing.

Disclosed is a system for detecting approach and/or contact of a user and Ultra High Frequency communication with a portable user apparatus, intended to be embedded on board an automotive vehicle, the system including: a device for detecting approach and/or contact, including a sensor for detecting approach and/or contact and an electronic control unit; a conducting metal surface, suitable for the conduction of electric charges; and a communication device, including an Ultra High Frequency antenna emitting an electromagnetic field at an Ultra High Frequency wavelength, and a management unit for managing the emission and reception of data of the antenna. The conducting metal surface takes the form of a continuous path including a plurality of meanders spread over a length at least equal to:=&#x3bb;/6wherein L is a total length of the meanders, and &#x3bb; is a wavelength of the Ultra High Frequency antenna.

System for detecting approach and/or contact of a user and ultra high frequency communication with a portable user apparatus

A device includes a capacitive touch sensor having a copper trace defining a capacitive electrode. The copper trace has a saw-tooth configuration. An ultra-high frequency (UHF) antenna is provided. A metal ground plane integrates the capacitive touch sensor with the UHF antenna. The saw-tooth copper trace aids in reducing interference with the UHF antenna.

A rotary position sensor includes a member with a shaft associated with the member such that movement of the member rotates the shaft. An arc-shaped permanent magnet is coupled to a periphery of the shaft for rotation therewith. First and second adjacent magnetic field concentrators define a gap there-between. Sensor structure is disposed in the gap. Upon movement of the member causing rotation of the shaft and magnet, the concentrators and sensor structure remain stationary, with the magnet providing a magnetic pole that changes the magnetic field in the gap. The sensor structure is constructed and arranged to respond to the changes in the magnetic field to identify a position of the member.

A three-magnet assembly configured for use in a position sensing system is disclosed. In an example, the three-magnet assembly establishes a non-linear spatially varying magnetic field configured to be measured by a magnetic field measurement device so that resolvable measurements are spatially distributed in a non-linear fashion. The resolvable measurements are distributed to a relatively higher concentration in at least one first region along a measurement stroke and to a relatively lower concentration in at least one second region along a measurement stroke, the second region being different from the first region. In an example, the different concentrations of resolvable measurements are utilized to spatially vary the precision of a position sensor along a measurement stroke. A system and methods for correlating magnetic field measurements to expected positions are also disclosed.

Selective slope linear position sensor

An inductive position sensor determines a position of an object. The sensor incudes a circuit board, a wire source coil constructed and arranged to provide a certain operating frequency, a first wire sensing coil, and a second wire sensing coil. The source coil, and first and second sensing coils are embedded in the circuit board, and each of the first and second sensing coils are constructed and arranged to provide an output as the object passes by source coil and the first and second sensing coils. Eddy current generating material is associated with any of the coils so as to provide an eddy current that interferes with wire to wire communication between the sensing coils and the source coil, so as to alter the output of the sensing coils to improve accuracy of the sensor to shape the output.

A method of designing a sensor assembly having a housing, a first magnet and a second magnet includes forming each of the first magnet and the second magnet into a wedge shape. The method further includes tilting each of the first magnet and the second magnet at an angle within the housing.
