A discoidal brake for a bicycle comprises a pair of discoids, each of which is mounted on a bicycle member laterally of a wheel rim, one on either side of the wheel. The discoid is pivotally mounted in levered relation on each pivot mount below adjacent and biased away from the wheel rim. A brake shoe is affixed to each discoid to allow camming of the brake shoe into the wheel rim facilitating braking. A control cable is affixed to a control member above the wheel with the control member being connected to the center of a yoke cable. The yoke cable is affixed to each discoid with yoke cable passed partway around the annular component on each discoid.

Discoidal bicycle brake

A linear brake for a bicycle comprises a pair of pivot mounts, each of which is mounted on a bicycle member laterally of a wheel rim, one on either side of the wheel. A brake arm is pivotally mounted in levered relation on each pivot mount below adjacent and biased away from the wheel rim. A brake shoe is affixed to each brake arm upper end. A control cable is affixed to a control member above the wheel with the control member being connected to the center of a yoke cable. The yoke cable is affixed to the lower end of each brake arm with yoke cable passed partway around the annular component on each pivot mount.

Bicycle brake

A peristaltic pump device includes a resilient tube secured in a pump housing with a rotor having rollers squeezing against the resilient tube facilitating the pumping of a liquid or gas. A cylindrical rotor rotates in a bore provided in the pump housing. The rotor has steps in which rollers freely slide and rotate. As the rotor rotates, the rollers also rotate and are slidingly held in the rotor step thereby frictional contact with the compressing resilient tube and consequently the liquid or gas within goes out of the resilient tube. The pump is inexpensive to build, reliable, and by design promotes the long life of the resilient tube as compared to existing roller type peristaltic pumps.

A rotary pump device includes a stator chamber with a cylindrical inner wall having intake and exhaust ports and an abutment mounted therein, and a rotor eccentrically mounted on an axial driven shaft for rotation within the chamber. The rotor keeps continuous wiping contact with the chamber wall while repelling magnets exert pressure on an abutment which maintains contact with the rotor to partition the intake and outlet ports. The repelling magnets act as a spring to assure contact of the abutment on the rotor while the pump is running or on standby. The repelling is caused by locating magnets positioned with similar facing poles in a pocket positioned against an abutment. A full intake/exhaust cycle takes place every 360&#xb0; of rotor travel.

A rotary pump device includes a stator chamber with a cylindrical inner wall having intake and exhaust ports therein, and a two-part, expanding rotor eccentrically mounted for rotation within the chamber. The rotor comprises two crescentoid bodies with end surfaces in sliding, mating contact. A spring rod is placed between the inner rotor body surfaces to maintain rotor contact points in continuous wiping contact with the chamber wall. A full intake/exhaust cycle occurs every 180&#xb0; of rotor travel.

A tape-reinforced tubular vascular graft formed of sintered fluoropolymer(s), such as expanded, sintered PTFE. The graft includes a base graft and a reinforcing tape applied thereto. The tape may be spirally wrapped about the graft or spirally wrapped into a tube about a cylindrical mandrel and then applied to the exterior of the graft. Radial shrinkage of the combined base graft and tape, or of the reinforcing tape tube, renders the vascular graft subsequently radially enlargeable by more than 5%, without tearing or breaking of the reinforcement tape layer of the graft. Radially enlargeable grafts of the present invention may be combined with various types of stents or anchoring systems, to form endovascular graft devices which are transluminally insertable and implantable within the lumen of a host blood vessel. Alternatively, radially enlargeable grafts of the present invention may be implanted by way of traditional surgical graft implantation techniques, without any radial enlargement of the graft at the time of implantation, so as to take advantage of the improved strength properties and suture-holding properties of the radially-shrunken tape-reinforced grafts of the present invention.

Radially-expandable PTFE tape-reinforced vascular grafts

A novel brake assembly is provided for a bicycle. The assembly is composed of an arrangement of a pair of brake pads each connected to a rod member in turn guided for axial movement by a base fixed on the bicycle frame. A bifurcated control cable actuates wedge members causing movement of the pads against a wheel rim. Return springs on the rod members cause the assembly to return to the original non-braking position in response to release of the control cable. As an option, a second wedge action can be incorporated that is activated by the frictional forces generated from the contact of the brake pads with the wheel rim. The second wedge action is limited by a mechanical stop within the brake assembly to prevent jamming of the brakes.

Stented tubular grafts of expanded, sintered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The stented PTFE grafts of the present invention include an integrally stented embodiment, an externally stented embodiment, and an internally stented embodiment. In each embodiment, the stent may be either self-expanding or pressure-expandable. Also, in each embodiment, the stent may be coated or covered with a plastic material capable of being affixed (e.g., heat fused) to PTFE. Manufacturing methods are also disclosed by the individual components of the stented grafts are preassembled on a mandrel and are subsequently heated to facilitate attachment of the PTFE layer(s) to one another and/or to the stent. Optionally, the stented graft may be post-flexed and post-expanded following it's removal from the mandrel to ensure that the stented graft will be freely radially expandable and/or radially contractible over it's full intended range of diameters.
