The selectively connecting the impedance element controls at least one of a magnitude trim and a phase trim of the RF signal.

Apparatus and methods for front-end systems with multiple loopbacks and a shared back switch are provided. In certain configurations, a front-end system includes a first transmit path between a first transmit port and an antenna port, a second transmit path between a second transmit port and the antenna port, a first loopback path from the first transmit path to a receive port, and a second loopback path from the second transmit path to the receive port. The first and second loopback paths operate with a shared back switch to reduce area and/or complexity of the front-end system. Additionally, each loopback path includes a loopback selection switch that operates in combination with the back switch to select that particular loopback path.

Circuits, devices and methods for reducing co-channel interference

A method for controlling a switch based on transistors is disclosed. A switching circuit for switching a signal from an input port to an output port thereof is provided. A shunting circuit for switchably shunting the signal from the input port to ground is also provided. A control signal is generated for biasing a control port of the shunting circuit and an approximately complimentary control signal is generated for biasing of the switching circuit to either shunt a signal received at the input port or to switch the signal to the output port. A further bias signal for biasing a port within the switching circuit along the signal path between the input port and the output port is also provided.

A method for controlling a switch based on transistors is disclosed. A switching circuit for switching a signal from an input port to an output port thereof is provided. A shunting circuit for switchably shunting the signal from the input port to ground is also provided. A control signal is generated for biasing a control port of the shunting circuit and an approximately complementary control signal is generated for biasing of the switching circuit to either shunt a signal received at the input port or to switch the signal to the output port. A further bias signal for biasing a port within the switching circuit along the signal path between the input port and the output.

A method of reducing distortion in the output of an amplifier is provided. The method comprises subtractively combining baseband error signals with the appropriate phase shift with baseband input signals, the baseband error signals generated by subtractively combining delayed fed-forward portions of the baseband input signals with baseband converted portions of a fed-back amplified output signal, the amplified output signal being a distorted replica of combined up-converted baseband input signals. The baseband error signals being filtered prior to the combining function, and also providing inputs to a controller which adjusts active elements of the amplification and fed-back paths in order to minimize the distortion within the output of the amplifier.

Method and apparatus for a cartesian error feedback circuit to correct distortion within a power amplifier

A method and system for reducing local oscillator leakage from radio frequency mixers is disclosed. Compensating circuits are used to reduce or eliminate unwanted leakage from the mixer output signal by controlling the current in individual branches of a balanced input circuit of the mixer. The current is directly controlled by adjusting the voltage on the bases of the differential type amplifier input transistors, or by injecting current directly into the individual branches, or by extracting current directly from the individual branches. The current is also indirectly controlled by increasing the temperature of the mixer components with power dissipation elements that are not connected to the mixer. The compensating circuits are made of different combinations of resistor, transistor and current sink components. By using the compensating circuits with a radio frequency mixer, any DC current differential occurring between two output nodes of the input circuit are reduced or eliminated, resulting in high quality signal transmissions.

Method to reduce local oscillator or carrier leakage in frequency converting mixers

An apparatus comprising a quadrature network, an RF combining circuit and a weighting network. The quadrature network may be configured to generate a first and a second signal in response to an input signal. The RF combining circuit may be configured to generate an output signal comprising the input signal variably phase shifted from a selectable fixed phase starting point in response to the first signal, the second signal and one or more weighting signals. The weighting network may be configured to generate the weighting signals in response to a voltage control signal and one of four possible output selections. The voltage control signal may be configured to control the variable phase shift.
