A lighting fixture having a light source, a light sensor, a communication interface, and circuitry is described. In addition to controlling the light source, the circuitry is adapted to monitor for a light signal provided from a handheld device via the light sensor; upon receiving the light signal, measure a signal level associated with the light signal; and effect transmission of the signal level to the handheld device via the communication interface. In one embodiment, the circuitry is further configured to receive an instruction to monitor for the light signal from the handheld device via the communication interface such that the circuitry begins monitoring for the light signal upon receiving the instruction.

Lighting fixture that transmits switch module information to form lighting networks

An area lamp includes an emitter array and driver circuitry. The emitter array includes a number of solid-state light emitters. Each one of the solid-state light emitters is configured to provide light suitable for general illumination within a field of view such that light emitted from a first subset of the number of solid-state light emitters is provided to a different portion of the field of view than light emitted from a second subset of the number of solid-state light emitters. The driver circuitry is coupled to the emitter array and configured to provide drive signals to the emitter array such that the light provided from each one of the solid-state light emitters is independently controllable and a number of drive signals is less than the number of solid-state light emitters.

Enhanced fixtures for area lighting

An apparatus includes a connector port configured to be selectably connected with and disconnected from a peripheral device. A detector is configured to provide an output indicating the connection of the peripheral device with the connector port with a time delay between connection of the peripheral device with the connector port and outputting the signal. A data switch is operatively coupled with the detector and a communication pin of the connector port and to selectably enable and disable data communication between the communication pin and a computer board in response to the output of the detector. A power switch is operatively coupled with the detector, the power supply pin, and a DC power supply and is configured to selectably connect and disconnect the power supply and the power supply pin in response to the output of the detector.

Protected power and data bus connection of peripheral device and host device

A lighting fixture includes a light source, a housing coupled to the light source, communications circuitry, and control circuitry. The housing includes an opening through which light from the light source is provided. The control circuitry includes a memory storing instructions, which, when executed by the control circuitry cause the lighting fixture to adjust one or more light output parameters of the light source, and store fixture location information describing a location of the lighting fixture in response to receipt of the fixture location information from the communications circuitry. By storing fixture location information describing the location of the lighting fixture, the location of the lighting fixture may be used to send messages to lighting fixtures in the same location and/or retrieve data from lighting fixtures in the same location, which may be beneficial in many circumstances.

Switch module for controlling lighting fixtures in a lighting network

The present disclosure relates to a lighting fixture that includes a driver module and at least one other module that provides a lighting fixture function, such as a sensor function, lighting network communication function, gateway function, and the like. The driver module communicates with the other modules in a master/slave scheme over a communication bus. The driver module is configured as a slave communication device, and the other modules are configured as master communication devices. As such, the other modules may initiate communications with the driver to send information to or retrieve information from the driver module.

Master/slave arrangement for lighting fixture modules

Systems and methods related to lighting fixtures for solid-state light sources are disclosed. In one embodiment, a lighting fixture includes a driver module and a communications module. The driver module is configured to execute driver program code, which causes the driver module to generate a drive output that drives one or more solid-state light sources. To provide updates, the communications module is configured to receive updated driver program code from a remote device and send the updated driver program code to the driver module. The driver module is configured to erase the driver program code and write the updated driver program code received from the communications module to memory. In this manner, updates can be provided to the lighting fixture without having to remove the lighting fixture from a support structure.

Updatable lighting fixtures and related components

A handheld device for grouping a plurality of lighting fixtures is disclosed. In one embodiment, the handheld device includes a communication interface configured to wirelessly communicate with the plurality of lighting fixtures and control circuitry. The circuitry is configured to: effect selection of at least two lighting fixtures of the plurality of lighting fixtures via the communication interface; determine a first group for the at least two lighting fixtures; create first group assignment information for the first group; and send the first group assignment information to each of the at least two lighting fixtures via the communication interface.

Handheld device for grouping a plurality of lighting fixtures

An emergency lighting module for providing emergency power to a solid state luminaire. The emergency lighting module includes a first input configured to receive a DC input voltage from the solid state luminaire, a second input configured to receive a status signal indicative of the status of an AC line voltage, and a first output configured to supply a DC output voltage to the solid state luminaire. The emergency lighting module is configured to supply the DC output voltage to the solid state luminaire in response to a reduction of the AC line voltage.

Emergency lighting systems and methods for solid state lighting apparatus

A lighting fixture includes a light source, a housing coupled to the light source, communications circuitry, sensor circuitry, and control circuitry. The housing includes an opening through which light from the light source is provided. The control circuitry includes a memory storing instructions, which, when executed by the control circuitry cause the lighting fixture to transmit sensor data obtained from the sensor circuitry via the communications circuitry for persistent storage of the sensor data. By transmitting sensor data from the lighting fixture for persistent storage thereof, the sensor data may be used to characterize a space in which the lighting fixture is located.

A handheld device having a communication interface configured to wirelessly communicate with a plurality of lighting fixtures and control circuitry is described. In one embodiment, the circuitry is configured to effect selection of a first lighting fixture in a first group of lighting fixtures via the communication interface; identify the first group of lighting fixtures based on information from the first lighting fixture; determine new settings for the first group of lighting fixtures; and send the new settings to each of the first group of lighting fixtures via the communication interface, wherein the first group of lighting fixtures includes a defined plurality of lighting fixtures that are associated to operate in a coordinated manner.

Handheld device for controlling settings of a lighting fixture

A handheld device for merging groups of lighting fixtures is disclosed. The handheld device includes a communication interface configured to wirelessly communicate with a plurality of lighting fixtures and control circuitry. In one embodiment, the control circuitry is configured to effect selection of a first lighting fixture or a first switch module that is grouped with a first group of lighting fixtures via the communication interface; identify the first group of lighting fixtures; effect selection of a device-to-be-added that is not initially associated with the first group of lighting fixtures via the communication interface; determine a new group by adding the device-to-be-added to the first group of lighting fixtures; create group assignment information for the new group; and send the group assignment information to each of the first group of lighting fixtures and the device-to-be-added of the new group via the communication interface.
