This invention overcome the disadvantage of the prior systems and produces a high velocity specially formed and constituted pressure aerodynamic stream for efficiently and effectively removing ice from an aircraft. The specially formed stream includes a stream within a stream, wherein a deicing fluid such a glycol is entrained within and encased by a surrounding jacket of entraining fluid such air. This deicing is now known as coaxial stream/stream within a stream deicing. The special nozzle allows the stream to maintain fluid separation over its flight path so that aircraft contact is made by to be known as coaxial stream/stream within a stream deicing. The coaxial stream/stream within a stream deicing is further enhanced by pressurizing the stream to deliver the stream as a high pressure high velocity stream to improved the aerodynamic sweeping action of the airstream.

Hybrid deicing system and method of operation

A room air conditioner has a front side portion and a rear side portion for location at an area to receive unwanted heat. The room air conditioner includes an evaporator coil at the front side portion of the air conditioner, and having a left-right centerline extending parallel to a front to rear direction. A condenser coil is at the rear side portion of the air conditioner, and has a left-right centerline extending parallel to the front to rear direction. An air-moving device is located between the evaporator coil and the condenser coil, and has a left-right centerline extending parallel to the front to rear direction. A chassis supports the evaporator coil, the condenser coil, and the air-moving device, and has a left-right centerline extending parallel to the front to rear direction. The centerlines of the evaporator coil, the condenser coil and the air-moving device are all co-linear, and the centerline of the chassis is laterally offset from the centerlines of the evaporator coil, the condenser coil and the air-moving device.

Compact chassis room air conditioner

A hybrid deicing system for deicing ice or snow covered surfaces comprises a source of pressurized air and a source of pressurized deicing fluid. A nozzle assembly receives the pressurized air and the pressurized deicing fluid at a forward position, a middle position or a rearward position of the nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly discharges the pressurized deicing fluid and pressurized air as a first independent stream within a second independent stream.

An air-conditioning unit including a centrifugal blower for centrifugally blowing air having a generally horizontal axis a rotation and a scroll having an elongated discharge plenum above the blower and an air guide about the blower for directing air exiting the blower to the discharge plenum through a discharge port having first and second ends. The air guide has a radius from the rotational axis of the fan which increases from a cutoff point near the first end of the discharge port to the second end of the discharge port. The scroll also has a curved air foil located above the blower and to a side of the blower toward the second end of the discharge port. The air foil has a leading edge near the blower and a trailing edge in the discharge plenum effective to divert a portion of air exiting the blower toward the second end of the discharge port to equally distribute air across the discharge plenum. The air foil intersects the discharge port near the lateral center of the discharge port and near the center of the air foil. Preferably, the air-foil is either forwardly curved or double-curved.

Constant velocity air foil

An aircraft tire and an associated landing gear apparatus which rotate a wheel of a landing aircraft prior to contact between the wheel and a runway. The tire possesses an array of projections which have a forward face for catching air and which are molded into the tire in at least one channel circling the tire tread on at least one sidewall of the tire. The tire preferably possesses one or more belts underneath those projections situated in channels to protect the integrity of the tire's shape. A landing gear apparatus which may be used in conjunction with the aircraft tire comprises a duct mounted adjacent to the tire which receives air, reroutes it, and releases it into at least some of the forward faces of the projections so as to effect a further forward rotational force on the tire and wheel.

Rotating aircraft tire/landing gear apparatus

A bulkhead joint with interfitted flanges set at different angles and nested junctions capable of relative pivotal movement with a free edge of one flange abutting the side of another with the bulkheads jointed by a screw.

Modular room air conditioner and method for making same

A housing adapted to be mounted beneath the top of a table and a shelf sized to fit substantially within the housing are operatively connected by a pair of telescoping rails which guide movement of the shelf between a retracted position in which the shelf is substantially within the housing and an extended position in which the shelf has a substantial portion thereof outside the housing. The rails pivot about an axis to change the height of the shelf with respect to the top of the table and the entire assembly includes a mechanism for securing the shelf in the extended position. The housing includes a vertically stepped slot in which a pin secured to the rails is movable to hold the shelf at predetermined heights with respect to the top of the table corresponding to the steps of the vertically stepped slot.

Retractable shelf assembly

A reusable resilient package particularly for the shipment of beverage cans is provided having at least two mating half sections, each containing at least one pair of mating recesses, one recess of each pair receiving half of a lengthwise section of a beverage can of one size and the other recess of each pair receiving half of the lengthwise section of a beverage can of different size having a like diameter but shorter length, said two half sections in one position receiving in each pair of recesses a can of one size and a can of different size and, in a second position, receiving in each pair of recesses two cans of said different size.

Reusable resilient packaging

A fireplace heating system is provided having a fireplace box having a fireplace opening therein, a heat chamber surrounding said box, a plurality of spaced generally vertically extending flues connected to said fireplace box and holding said box suspended generally centrally of said heat chamber, said flues being adapted to carry the exhaust gases from the fireplace box, a hot air distribution duct connected to said heat chamber and surrounding the said flues over a portion of their length, said distribution duct having discharge vent means into the room being heated, a pre-heat chamber spaced from the heat chamber and the hot air distribution duct and surrounding said flues over a second portion of their length, a cold air inlet connected to said pre-heat chamber, a blower connected to said pre-heat chamber on the side of the pre-heat chamber opposite the cold air inlet receiving preheated air passing around the second portion of said flues from said pre-heat chamber for delivery to the heat chamber and chimney means connected to said flues receiving exhaust gases therefrom.

Fireplace systems

Means are provided for joining a pair of foundry flasks which includes in combination one half of a V-shaped dove tail flange along each adjacent edge to be joined so as to form a V-shaped dove tail clamp and generally C-shaped clamp member having a jaw at each end adapted to slidably engage the dove tail flange and having a central depending tongue between the jaws adapted to bear on the two adjacent flanges at this juncture.
