This invention relates to a fluorine-containing dental composition. The composition is particularly adapted for use in the field of dentistry as a composite filling material, cavity liner, adhesive, orthodontic resin, pit and fissure sealant, and denture base material wherein the fluoride is released to prevent secondary caries and reduce plaque formation.

Fluorine-containing dental materials

A closed loop vortex tube system having a vortex tube, a hot side loop and heat exchanger, a cold side loop and heat exchanger, a working fluid, and a start-up compressor. The hot side loop and cold side loop combine past the heat exchanger at an inlet on the vortex tube. Electrical generating means, transmission means, or distilling means are provided for deriving work from the hot side heat exchanger. A method of operating a closed loop vortex tube system by providing a moving stream of working fluid to a vortex tube, heat exchanging the cold side output with a fluid which is warm relative to it, heat exchanging the hot side working fluid with a fluid which is cool relative to it, combining the two heat exchanged working fluids and reintroducing them to the vortex tube, and deriving a work output from the hot side heat exchanger.

Method and apparatus for closed loop vortex operation

An improved method for securing a thin continuous layer of metallic silver upon a tooth structure, especially the dentin surface of that structure, to seal the surface and, where desired, to provide a highly receptive surface for an amalgam restoration. The method involves first coating the dentin surface with an aqueous solution of a silver salt to form a silver-protein complex, then photoreducing the silver of that complex to produce a black base layer of complexed metallic silver, and thereafter electrolessly plating a continuous silver sealing layer onto the base layer.

Method of silver plating a tooth structure

A method for forming a layered dental restoration in which there is a continuous polymeric resin phase but in which the reinforcing filler compositions of the respective layers are different. A sub-layer, composed of a polymeric resin binder having a refractive index within the range of about 1.53 to 1.56, in admixture with suitable catalysts and a finely-divided reinforcing inorganic filler having a refractive index substantially different than that of such resin, is first applied to the site of restoration and, before the sub-layer has fully cured, a surface layer composed of the same resin and catalysts but a different inorganic filler is applied to the site over the sub-layer. The filler of the surface layer consists essentially of a finely-divided inorganic material having substantially the same refractive index as that of the resin common to both layers.

Method for dental restoration

An improved composite material for use as a dental restorative in which the major component consists of a finely-divided reinforcing filler having a hardness no greater than about 5.0 on the Moh's scale. Despite the relative softness of such a filler, in contrast to fillers conventionally used in dental composites, the final restoration has superior resistance to abrasion and wear, can be finished more effectively and more aesthetically, and can be handled with metal dental instruments.

Composite for dental restorations

A radio-opaque composite material for use as a dental restorative which consists essentially of a conventional polymerizable resin binder and catalysts in admixture with a finely-divided inorganic filler capable of being coupled to the binder. The filler comprises a crystalline silicate containing barium in the crystalline composition. Calcium barium silicate in crystalline form is set forth in disclosing the best known mode for practicing the invention.
