A keel punch impactor comprises a main body having an interior bore. A locking shaft is positioned in the interior bore of the main body, the locking shaft defining a shaft axis. An actuator is in contact with the locking shaft. The actuator is moveable between a first position and a second position. The position of the locking shaft is moved within the interior bore of the main body upon movement of the actuator. In particular, the locking shaft is moved such that the shaft axis is offset when the actuator is moved from the first position to the second position. When the shaft is moved, a head on the shaft is moved into or out of alignment with a boss extending from the main body of the keel punch impactor.

A surgical instrument support system has a support frame supported by three arms. Each arm has a plurality of ball and socket members strung in series along a cable. The arms are also connected to bases mountable to the patient's limb on the proximal and distal sides of the joint. Actuators are provided for each arm to change the tension in the cables to change the stiffness of each arm. The support system can be part of a surgical instrument system that includes a plurality of resection guides mountable to the support frame.

Surgical instrument system with ball and socket support

A three-dimensional tilt ratchet mechanism that is able to rotate, pivot, and bend forwards or backwards with ease is provided. The mechanism includes a device for multi-dimensional movement and placement of a retractor blade which comprises a first member adapted to receive a stem of a retractor blade. The first member has a locking mechanism effective to enable selective lateral adjustment of the retractor blade relative to the first member. Also provided is a second member to which the first member is mated. The first member is vertically pivotable with respect to the second member to enable selective vertical pivoting adjustment of the retractor blade relative to the second member. A rotator indexing body is mated to the second member and is adapted to mount onto a rim of a surgical support. The second member is rotatable with respect to the rotator indexing body such that the first member, the second member and the retractor blade are able to selectively rotate about the longitudinal axis of the rotator indexing body.

Three-dimensional tilt ratchet mechanism

A transparent measuring device for topographical maps is graduated for converting a particular map scale in units of yards and/or fractions of a mile. The measuring device has a substantially rectangular body having a first, second and third top face, a first and second side surface and a bottom surface. The third top face is disposed between said first and second faces as a distinct magnifier. The first top face has a graduated scale including indicia for designating a measuring scale in units of yards. The second top face has a complimentary graduated scale including indicia for designating a measuring scale in units of miles which is directly correlated with measurements made in units of yards on the first face by a scalar conversion factor. A plurality of the measuring scales are attached at single point as and forms a unitary kit of measuring devices for measurements requiring different scales.

Measuring device for topographical maps

Scissor type device for releasing fluid from a segmented plastic tube into a container. A hinged member has first and second arms. A spur cutter is mounted on the first arm a predetermined distance from the hinge. The interior wall of the second arm is shaped to position the segmented tube so that it is cut by the cutter at a central point on the tubular member when the arms are squeezed together. A cam surface is positioned on one arm. The interior wall of the other arm is shaped so that the cam surface will squeeze the tube so that the contents of the tube may be squeezed out.

Blood segment processor

Coded lock for blood transfusion bags of the type having a locking flap. A pin extends through the locking flap of the bag. A numerically coded lock locks the pin through the flaps. A numerical code is set into the lock. The numerical code is attached to the patient's wrist. At the patient's location the nurse reads the code attached to the patient's wrist and opens the bag.

Blood identification means

Blood specimen indexing means. A rack for test tubes having a lower solid plate, a center plate and an upper plate, the center and upper plates having a plurality of holes for receiving test tubes. The upper plate has a plurality of peg holes to receive the one or more pegs. The test tube holes in the upper plate are numbered with consecutive two digit numbers and the peg holes are numbered with consecutive three digit and four digit numbers.

Blood specimen indexing means

Blood segment processor for releasing blood from a segmented plastic tube into a test tube. A tubular member is adapted to fit inside a test tube. A cutter is mounted in the tubular member so that a segmented plastic tube containing blood may be inserted in the tubular member and cut, to thereby release the blood into the test tube.

Non contaminating stopper remover means for removing test tube stoppers of the type having a center portion extending into the test tube and an upper portion having a continuous edge over the edge of the test tube stopper remover. A hollow cylindrical member has an open end adapted to fit over the stopper inserted in the test tube. The stopper remover may have an inwardly extending rim or binding surface adapted to fit the extending upper portion of the stopper so that the stopper may be removed by slipping the stopper remover over the stopper and squeezing, pulling or bending to one side of the test tube. The stopper remover is longer than the stopper so that when the stopper is removed any contamination by the stopper is prevented.
