A sealing element is provided for use on insulated flat cables of the type having opposed rounded minor surfaces and opposed substantially flat parallel major surfaces which comprises an elongated body of resilient material having an orifice extending longitudinally within said body. The orifice has a width greater than its height. Opposed involute walls extend within said orifice substantially along the width of the orifice whereby the involute walls stretch and conform to the opposed substantially flat parallel major surfaces of the flat cable when placed thereon, thus providing a secure, watertight interference fit. Depending upon usage, the orifice may extend through the body or terminate within the body. Additionally, it is preferred that sealing rings be formed in the inner wall of the orifice.

Flat cable sealing element

A sealing element is provided for use on insulated flat cables which comprises an elongated body of resilient material having an orifice extending longitudinally within said body. The orifice has a width greater than its height. Opposed involute walls extend within said orifice substantially along the width of the orifice whereby the involute walls stretch and conform to the opposed substantially flat parallel major surfaces of the flat cable when placed thereon, thus providing a secure, watertight interference fit. Depending upon usage, the orifice may extend through the body or terminate within the body. Additionally, it is preferred that sealing rings be formed in the inner wall of the orifice.

Flat cable and sealing element

A resilient open ended reenterable splice cover is provided having an enlarged central section and cable sealing means at both ends with the central section having a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional area of the metal splice which it is designed to cover. Even though an interference fit is provided between the splice and the splice cover, the cover is removable so as to provide reentry to the splice. A lubricating medium is contained within the splice cover. The splice cover may be provided in a kit which includes a mating deformable metal splice or terminal. The kit is designed to be used in the field so as to provide a submersible reenterable splice assembly for insulated electric cables. In the preferred embodiment, the lubricating medium is a removable absorbent material having friction reducing material saturated therein whereby, when the absorbent means is removed from the splice cover, a portion of the friction reducing material is left within the splice cover so that after the splice is in place the splice cover may easily be moved into a position covering the splice and the cables with an interference fit so as to promote heat dissipation about the splice. In a further embodiment, a liquid lubricator may be contained within the cover which has removable plugs at either end. The assembly may be used with both single cables splices and multiple cable splices as well as with splices having fuses associated therewith. It is again emphasized that the cover is removable due to the friction reducing material so as to provide reentry to the splice.

Seal lock body

A bar connector is provided whereby, when the connector is in a locked position on a transformer bushing, a set screw is provided having a conical tapered end. An internally threaded bore hole is selectively provided in the connector at a point such that, when the connector is secured on the transformer bushing, the tapered conical end of the set screw bears against the chamfer of the threaded stud of the transformer, thereby locking the connector in place without damaging the threads of the stud. By utilizing this method for locking the transformer stud, thus eliminating the present lock nut, a completely insulated and sealed transformer bus is gained. An insulating cover positioned at the threaded end of the bar connector provides a flexible cylindrical base which, under thread pressure, seals the juncture of the transformer bushing with the insulated end of the bar connector. After threading the bar connector over the transformer stud, the stud is locked in place, as previously described. A second, larger insulating cover is force fitted over the smaller cover to provide a completely insulated assembly.
