An absorptive muffler assembly includes a first body and a second body surrounding the first body. A resilient mount having at least one resilient portion and at least one support arm supports the first body and isolates the second body from vibrations of the first body.

Absorptive muffler suspension

A resilient mount useful in a muffler assembly includes a support arm, a bracket arm and at least one resilient portion. In one example, the resilient portion comprises neoprene to provide a cushion between the support arm and the bracket arm. The resilient mount is for supporting at least one absorptive body within a housing and isolating the housing from vibrations of the absorptive body.

The area of the discharge end of a screw rotor acted on by the discharge pressure is reduced by locating a region of suction pressure acting on the discharge end of the rotor and separating the suction and discharge pressures by a labyrinth seal located between the discharge end of the rotor and the facing housing structure.

Thrust load reliever

A motor-compressor unit comprising a shell, a compressor, and a motor. The compressor includes a yoke and a slide block to transmit motion from a compressor crankshaft to a plurality of compressor pistons. The yoke includes left and right longitudinally extending side wall portions, and upper and lower front and rear connecting portions secured to and transversely extending between the left and right side wall portions. The upper and lower front connecting portions define a front transverse opening, and the upper and lower rear connecting portions define a rear transverse opening. The slide block is supported by the yoke for longitudinal sliding movement through the front and rear transverse openings.

Motor-compressor unit

An electric motor protection device comprising a body, an electric strip, a plunger, and pressure and temperature sensitive snap discs. The electric strip moves from a current conductive, closed position to a current nonconductive, open position when the current conducted through the strip exceeds a preset level. The plunger engages the electric strip also to move the strip from the closed position to the open position. The pressure and temperature discs move from normal positions to overcenter positions to engage the plunger and move the electric strip from the closed position to the open position, respectively, when the vapor pressure forces on the pressure disc and the temperature of the temperature disc exceed preset values.

Protection device

A hermetically sealed motor compressor unit has refrigerant gas at discharge pressure substantially surrounding the motor of the unit. The compressor includes at least two cylinders in which gas is compressed. A suction plenum for receiving gas at suction pressure surrounds each of the cylinders. Conduits, equal in number to the number of cylinders, are disposed externally of the compressor for delivering the gas into each of the plenums. One end of the conduit is connected to the plenum and the other end of each conduit is interconnected with the remaining conduits. The pressure pulsations developed in each conduit are controlled whereby the pressure in each plenum is at a maximum when the suction valve for a particular cylinder opens and is at a minimum when the piston is substantially at bottom dead center.

Method of operating a motor compressor unit

A suspension system for a motor compressor unit mounted within a hermetically sealed shell. The shell defines at least one chamber filled with refrigerant suction gas and a second chamber filled with refrigerant discharge gas. The compressor's cylinder block includes a wall member extending into contact with the interior surface of the shell to support the unit in a vertical plane taken through the shell.

Motor compressor unit

A suspension and seal system for a motor compressor unit mounted within a hermetically sealed shell. The shell defines at least one chamber filled with refrigerant suction gas and a second chamber filled with refrigerant discharge gas. The compressor's cylinder block includes a radially extending wall member. A second wall member is spaced from the first wall member for defining a space for receiving a combination seal and suspension member. Resilient members are provided at predetermined locations about the motor compressor unit and are squeezed between opposed surfaces of the unit and the shell for dampening motion of the unit within the shell.
