Disclosed is a multiple antenna, and/or gimbaled antenna system mounting system for maintaining electromagnetic signal reception means of an antenna system present in a remote unit in a global positioning system (GPS) based system for continuous electronic monitoring and tracking of monitored individual(s) from a central control station (CCS), in an essentially constant desired orientation with respect to an earth orbiting satellite source of electromagnetic signals, when, in use, change occurs in the orientation of a structural frame element of the remote unit to which the antenna system is, via the multiple and/or gimbaled antenna system mounting system, mounted.

Antenna orientation maintaining system in a system for tracking individuals, and method of use

Disclosed is a gimbaled antenna system mounting system for maintaining an electromagnetic signal reception means, of an antenna system present in a remote unit in a global positioning system (GPS) based system for continuous electronic monitoring and tracking of monitored individual(s) from a central control station (CCS), in an essentially constant desired orientation with respect to an earth orbiting satellite source of electromagnetic signals, when, in use, change occurs in the orientation of a structural frame element of the remote unit to which the antenna system is, via the gimbaled antenna system mounting system, mounted.

An apparatus and method of monitoring mobile objects or persons utilizes the Global Positioning System satellites and cellular telephone communications. The apparatus may include first and second remote units adapted to be worn on the monitored person or object. These remote units would comprise the position and data sensors as well as the transmitter device to transmit the information back to a central tracking station. The remote units may be operative to monitor many data items such as system integrity, motion, temperature, audio, and the like in addition to position. This data would then be transmitted back to a central monitoring station operative to process and display the information. The system is also adapted to monitor persons in hazardous environments such as radioactivity or poisonous gases or even to monitor inanimate objects such as automobiles.

Apparatus and method for continuous electronic monitoring and tracking

An apparatus and method of monitoring mobile objects or persons using the utilizes the Global Positioning System satellites and cellular telephone communications. The apparatus may include first and second remote units adapted to be worn on the monitored person or object. These remote units would comprise the position and data sensors as well as the transmitter device to transmit the information back to a central tracking station. The remote units may be operative to monitor many data items such as system integrity, motion temperature, audio, and the like in addition to position. This data would then be transmitted back to a central monitoring station operative to process and display the information. The system is also adapted to monitor persons in hazardous environments such as radioactivity or poisonous gases or even to monitor inanimate objects such as automobiles.

A circuit which prevents a telephone or a plurality of telephones from making unauthorized or restricted calls to specific numbers or unspecific groups of numbers. The restricted call numbers may be local or toll call. The circuit is disabled either on a call by call basis, or indefinitely by entering a user defined pass code. The circuit is programmable from any commercially available touch-tone phone. When in the call restriction mode, the circuit detects outgoing calls by detecting and decoding standard `DTMF` burst. Upon detecting the first valid tone, the circuit isolates the user from the central office equipment. The circuit then parses the first and all following DTMF bursts and compares them against preprogrammed internal lists of fixed or relative restricted numbers. If a fixed number or a relative group of numbers is validly compared to the internal lists, the circuit continues to lock out the user until the central office will no longer accept a number, at which time, the circuit releases the line and restores the user to central office access. If no valid comparison is made to the internal lists, the circuit dials the remaining numbers in a burst mode, and restores user access to the central office as the call is completed. Use of the `*` key and `#` keys allow special programming options, and user disabling via special pass codes. The system may optionally be used with rotary dial phones and can be used with non-telephone voice and/or data communication systems.

Universal outgoing call restriction circuit

The surface of a slider for a magnetic recording head, a burnishing head, or a glide head includes a pair of rails that, in operation, face the magnetic recording medium to form air bearing surfaces. These air bearing surfaces have slots cut into them at the same prescribed angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the slider, and along a single straight line. This provides slots which are asymmetric about the longitudinal axis, causing the slider to fly nearer the recording medium and at almost constant height.

A Universal Digital Data Copying System for the blind copying of digital information from electromagnetic media such as flexible discs is disclosed. The system provides a master drive and a slave drive by which information is read from the master drive, timed by a phase-locked oscillator, converted by a serial to parallel converter, and controlled by a controller and stored in the high speed memory buffer. The output of the controller is fed to a parallel to serial converter and precompensation circuit. Thereupon the information is written at the slave drive at a fixed clock rate. A verifier to test the quality of the recording is also disclosed. By the addition of other drive units, the system provides for any desired number of copies to be made concurrently from a single master. The invention thus provides a copying system independent of the media employed, format or encoding scheme used.
