A storage buffer for a multi lane conveyor system is provided, which generally consists of a carriage containing a plurality of storage magazines each having a plurality of storage conveyors, means for raising and lowering the carriage such that an article can be fed to and discharged from each storage conveyor, at least two drive systems for running the storage conveyors of each magazine one at a time, and at least two drive means for driving the two drive systems.

Storage buffer for a multi lane conveyor

An inverter for flipping articles traveling on a conveyor system is provided. The inverter includes a flipping member which has a plurality of substantially parallel lanes defined by side walls. The flipping member is attached to a frame member such that the flipping member is rotatable with respect to the frame member about an axis substantially perpendicular to the lanes. A pair of belts circulates around a pair of belt paths on each of the side walls defining the lanes, each of the belt paths being defined by a plurality of rollers mounted on one of the side walls. Each pair of belts defines an article conveying channel for securing therebetween one of the side edges of the article being conveyed. One of the rollers defining one of the belt paths of each pair of belt paths is operatively attached to one of a pair of cooperating gears, the other of which is operatively attached to one of the rollers defining the other belt path of the pair of belt paths such that if one belt of a pair of belts is driven, the other belt of the pair of belts is driven at substantially the same velocity, but in an opposite direction. A plurality of drive motors are mounted on the flipping member, each of the drive motors driving one belt of each pair of belts.

Multiple lane inverter

The invention provides an article flipper comprising a first turnover member mounted to a conveyor frame member for rotation about an axis substantially perpendicular to said frame member, a slot in the turnover member for receiving a side edge of sheets, a stop for arresting sheets with a leading portion of the side edges in the slot, and a rotator for rotating the first turnover member through about 180 degrees. The article flipper may include a second turnover member having a detent or being movable to clamp sheets between it and the first turnover member, or may include a rack and pinion. A belt tensioner which may be used with the article flipper is also provided and comprises a tensioning wheel for engaging the belt, a moveable block including a shaft for mounting the tensioning wheel, and a wedge for urging the block toward the belt. A belt change facilitator which may be used with the article flipper is also provided and comprises a sprocket for circulating the belt, a splined shaft, and a releasable lock for connecting the shaft to the sprocket. In another aspect, the invention relates to a method for flipping articles.

Belt tensioner and turnover device for a printed circuit board belt

An intersection is provided for bottle conveyor lines having individual neck guide pairs. The intersection comprises a transfer plate and a pair of changing plates. The transfer plate includes a substantially Y-shaped opening extending to the edges thereof and comprising two arm members and a leg member defining a central plate portion and side plate portions. Each arm member when combined with the leg member forms a substantially continuously curving bottle path. The changing plates are movable, preferably vertically, between first positions in planar alignment with the transfer plate and second positions clear of bottles moving along the paths. The changing plates include an edge spanning one bottle path from opposite sides of the leg portion of the Y-shaped opening to the point of intersection of the converging edges of the central plate to complete the bottle supporting guides along the other bottle path.

A conveniently assemblable conveyor beam is provided comprising a plurality of cross members with tongue and groove combinations on opposing lateral sides thereof; a pair of opposing side guides with corresponding tongue and groove combinations formed in a sidewall thereof for hooking the side guides in a facing, parallel, and spaced apart fashion on either side of the cross members; and a pair of interference fitting edges spaced from the tongue and groove combinations for fastening the side guides to the cross members in an interference fit.
