The toilet bowl separately collects urine and feces for analysis or other uses. The toilet bowl includes a toilet bowl wall with at least two holes in it. The first hole is a fecal collection aperture positioned below a user where a user may defecate into it. The second hole is a urine collection orifice through which a user's urine may flow. The two holes may be separated by a ridge which may act like a dam to inhibit cross-contamination of collected feces and urine. Conduits may connect to the two holes to direct the waste into analytical devices or containers for additional uses including composters and digesters which produce clean energy.

Split toilet bowl for separating fecal matter and urine for collection and analysis

The toilet bowl separately collects urine and feces for analysis or use in a composting device, waste digester, or to reclaim water. The toilet bowl includes a toilet bowl wall. Urine flows down the toilet bowl wall into a channel for collection. The channel surrounds an aperture into which feces may be deposited. Consequently, urine and feces are kept separate during collection. Both the channel and the aperture may be connected to conduits which may transmit material into analytical devices. The conduits may transmit material into digesters in appropriate amounts including controlling the amount of liquid added to solid material. Collected urine may be stored for water reclamation. Sensors may confirm the absence of fecal matter in collected urine or detect contamination. After separate analysis, feces and urine may be combined through connecting conduits then disposed of in the sewer system or sent to a composting device or waste digester.

Toilet bowl for separating fecal matter and urine for collection and analysis

We disclose a toilet system which analyzes solid waste to detect tags which were associated with pharmaceutical or nutritional products and excreted in the solid waste of a user. The toilet system may include a receptacle for receiving solid waste, a liquid dispenser for providing a liquid to assist in dispersing the solid waste, a solid waste dispersing system which may mix the solid waste with the liquid thereby homogenizing the solid waste, and an electromagnetic signature detector which may analyze the tags in the solid waste. The electromagnetic signature detector may include a selective binding surface which may bind tags present in the solid waste and which may be connected to a transducer which senses the presence of bound tags.

Toilet system for detecting tags in pharmaceutical and nutritional products which are excreted in solid waste

A filter and housing () for waste water treatment includes a housing () having a plurality of coaxially mounted vertically extending sections adaptable to receive a filter cartridge therein. An upper section () is provided with an outlet consisting of at least two coaxially aligned rings () of preselected diameters wherein the thickness of the rings and the spacing between the rings is sufficient to receive waste water treatment outlets of different diameters. The filter cartridge is comprised of a stacked arrangement of a plurality of disc-dam units () wherein each disc-dam unit () is provided with a serpentine configured first dam (), the first dam extending upwardly from an upper surface of the disc-dam unit, the first dam having terminating ends spaced at outer terminating edges () of the disc dam unit to define a cord segment therebetween. The terminating ends are connected by a second dam () having a height less than the first dam. The serpentine configured first dam divides the disc-dam unit into an upstream side along the outer periphery and a downstream side along the inner periphery. Slots are positioned within the serpentine configured dam on the upstream side thereby providing flow communication with underlying disc-dam units. The top of the first dam is of a preselected height so as to provide a preselected spacing between the top of the first dam and the under surface of an overlying disc-dam unit.

Filtration device for a waste water treatment system

A filter and housing for waste water treatment includes a housing having a plurality of coaxially mounted vertically extending sections adaptable to receive a filter cartridge therein. An upper section is provided with an outlet consisting of at least two coaxially aligned rings of preselected diameters wherein the thickness of the rings and the spacing between the rings is sufficient to receive waste water treatment outlets of different diameters. The filter cartridge is comprised of a stacked arrangement of a plurality of disc-dam units wherein each disc-dam unit is provided with a serpentine configured first dam, the first dam extending upwardly from an upper surface of the disc-dam unit, the first dam having terminating ends spaced at outer terminating edges of the disc dam unit to define a cord segment therebetween. The terminating ends are connected by a second dam having a height less than the first dam. The serpentine configured first dam divides the disc-dam unit into an upstream side along the outer periphery and a downstream side along the inner periphery. Slots are positioned within the serpentine configured dam on the upstream side thereby providing flow communication with underlying disc-dam units. The top of the first dam is of a preselected height so as to provide a preselected spacing between the top of the first dam and the under surface of an overlying disc-dam unit.

A method and system for determining the authenticity of an item such as an original work of art, an art print, valuable jewelry or other valuable items utilizes images of one or more unique patterns of features, preferably at a microscopic level, as one or more 'signatures' of the item. The image of this unique signature is recorded and stored electronically as data representing the unique pattern. The data are registered with identifying text and stored in a secure storage location, to prevent unauthorized duplication or use of the stored data. Following this registration and storage, an item presented as authentic can be examined microscopically at prescribed sites on the item where the original images were taken. Comparison is made at one or more of the sites, and a decision is made as to whether the item exhibits substantially identical features to those originally registered, so as to be the same authentic item. Comparison can be made electronically or visually/microscopically. The storage location can be a central location remote from local verification stations, with data transferred to and from local stations by telephone lines or other communication links.

An optical power splitter for the distribution of high-power light energy has a plurality of prisms arranged about a central axis to form a central channel. The input faces of the prisms are in a common plane which is substantially perpendicular to the central axis. A beam of light which is substantially coaxial to the central axis is incident on the prisms and at least partially strikes a surface area of each prism input face. The incident beam also partially passes through the central channel.

Optical power splitter for splitting high power light

An electromechanical chaotic chiming mechanism, analogous to the classical wind or water powered chime, includes a body or framework suspending a series of chimes with a pendulum suspended centrally among the chimes. A drive mechanism for the pendulum includes a permanent magnet on the pendulum and a drive electromagnet in a base positioned just below a centered rest position of the pendulum. With the electromagnet switched on and off, in a regular linear pattern, the electromagnetic drive causes a chime hammer on the pendulum to behave in a chaotic manner, sounding the chimes in a fashion virtually indistinguishable from natural meteorological forces acting on conventional windchimes. Variations can be made to the pattern or period of the drive electromagnet to vary the pattern of sound produced by the chimes.
