A control circuit for selectively energizing at least one electrical device coupled to the control circuit via a pair of conductive wires with an operating voltage. The control circuit comprises a control circuit for selectively supplying and withholding operating electrical power to at least one electrical device. A first current detector is connected to a control voltage and senses a current flow resulting from closure of a circuit connected to a control voltage in at least one wire of the pair of conductive wires. A second current detector is connected to the operating voltage and senses a current flow resulting from closure of a circuit connected to the operating voltage in at least one wire of the pair of conductive wires. A first switching device responds to the first current detector to disconnect the control voltage from at least one of the wires and to connect the operating voltage to the conductive pair. A second switching device responds to the second current detector to maintain operating voltage to the conductor pair. The second switching device responds to the second current detector to connect operating power to the electrical device.

Safe Class-2 motor control circuit and method adapted for electric vacuum cleaning system suction motor and agitator motor control

A module adapted to be used as and an end or intermediate plate for a canister-type vacuum cleaner. The module comprises a disk-shaped body having a plurality of closed peripheral recesses which may be used to mount components to the body, or opened to form passages through the body. A groove is formed in the body to the interior to the peripheral recesses to receive and provide for the positioning of a baffle relative to the plate. In the preferred embodiment the groove is circular and the plate has a closed central recess formed centrally of the recess, which central recess may be opened to form a passage through the body.

Universal airflow vacuum cleaner module

A vacuum cleaner power and control system wherein a single pair of conductors is employed to transmit electrical power to a remote motor driven agitator and to selectively energize the blower motor of the cleaner. Photo electric means is employed to sense current flow in the conductors and trigger the power switch for the blower in response to the sensing of such flow. A switch includes a load capacitor which may be selectively connected between the conductors to establish current flow therethrough without activating the remote motor driven agitator. In one embodiment, the power supply for the agitator motor is separate from that of the blower and a sensor is provided in the vicinity at which the agitator is connected to sense the supply of power thereto and activate the blower in response to such supply.

Vacuum cleaner control system

Electrical energization and control circuit particularly for use in permanently installed vacuum cleaning systems having a centrally located A.C. powered vacuum turbine and a remote flexible cleaning unit equipped with low voltage A.C. or D.C. agitator motors. Energization of the A.C. turbine motor circuit is controlled by a current sensor in the one of the two wires leading to the remote low voltage agitator motor so that a selector switch in the handle of the cleaning unit may, in one position, energize the low voltage agitator motor or, in a second position, bypass the agitator motor through a resistance to initiate a current flow that is sensed by the current sensor to activate the A.C. motor circuit.
