A light assembly coupled to a spray gun for spraying electrostatically charged coating material is disclosed. The spray gun includes a gun body comprising a barrel, a nozzle assembly extending from the barrel in a longitudinal direction, a voltage multiplier, and an actuator assembly configured to transition the voltage multiplier between an activated state and a deactivated state. The light assembly includes a light and circuitry electrically connected to the light. The circuitry is configured to supply electrical energy inductively obtained by the circuitry to the light when the voltage multiplier is in the activated state. The light assembly can also include a housing, a lens cover releasably attached to the housing, and a control member for changing a characteristic of the light.

A coating material spray application system includes first and second coating material supplies; first and second coating material pumps and first and second feed hoses; wherein each feed hose is in communication with a respective one of the coating material pumps and has a respective coating material hose outlet. Each pump is operable to transfer coating material from a respective one of the supplies to the respective feed hose. A spray booth may be used and a coating material spray gun operable within said spray booth, with the spray gun being connectable to a selected one of the coating material hose outlets. A source of pressurized air operates the pumps; and a pneumatic switch accessible from within the spray booth is operable to connect the pressurized air to a selected one of said coating material pumps which corresponds to the selected coating material hose outlet.

Apparatus and methods for coating an article on a flat line, powder coating system comprises a powder coating booth with a reduced inlet opening for articles to be coated and an enlarged outlet opening for coated articles. Powder spray guns of the tribo-electric type, or having internal charging electrodes, are arranged in rows with parallel tube spray heads and are disposed at a shallow angle with respect to the conveyor to spray powder onto the articles generally in the direction of conveyor movement. Baffle plates are installed under the spray guns so that any powder which collects on the spray guns does not fall on the articles being coated. Oversprayed powder is collected from a part of the booth intermediate the spray guns and the enlarged outlet opening. Preferably, the thickness of powder coating on the articles in the precured condition is measured and the system is controlled so that the coating thickness is uniform and of the desired thickness.

Flat line powder coating system

A method and apparatus for spraying particulate powder material into a continuous roving or tow formed of individual strands comprises a hollow spraying chamber having inlet and outlet guides for receiving the tow moving axially therethrough. A stream of air-entrained particulate powder material is injected into the hollow spraying chamber, at an angle relative to the direction of movement of the tow, with a velocity such that the individual strands of the tow are separated from one another and the particulate powder material is lodged between the exterior surfaces of adjacent strands throughout substantially the entire thickness of the tow.
