This invention is drawn to a process for isomerizing a non-equilibrium mixture of xylenes and ethylbenzene using a silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieve which is enriched in framework silicon at the surface, resulting in a greater yield of para-xylene compared to prior-art processes.

Aromatic isomerization using a modified silicoaluminophosphate

Propylene oxide may be produced by an integrated process utilizing as a basic feedstock a refinery stream containing saturated hydrocarbons. The first element of the process converts one or more of the saturated hydrocarbons to a stream containing propylene and hydrogen using steam cracking, catalytic cracking, or preferably catalytic dehydrogenation. Hydrogen and propylene are separated, and the hydrogen is employed in a reaction cycle affording hydrogen peroxide. The latter is then used to epoxidize propylene in the presence of a suitable catalyst, especially a titanosilicate.

Integrated process for the production of propylene oxide

Phenol is produced from a hydrocarbon feedstock using a process combination offering unexpected synergy. Benzene is produced from the hydrocarbon feedstock using a highly selective aromatization catalyst which provides substantial quantities of high-purity hydrogen. The hydrogen is converted to hydrogen peroxide, which in turn is used to convert the benzene to phenol in high yield.

Production of phenol from a hydrocarbon feedstock

A catalytic composite, comprising a combination of a nickel component and a tungsten component with a silica-alumina carrier material wherein the atomic ratio of nickel to nickel plus tungsten is about 0.1 to about 0.3. The key feature of the subject composite is the criticality of the ratio of nickel to nickel plus tungsten. The principal utility of the subject composite is in the hydrocracking of hydrocarbons. A specific example of the catalyst disclosed is a combination of nickel and tungsten with a silica-alumina carrier material containing 50 wt.% alumina in amounts sufficient to result in the composite having an atomic ratio of nickel to nickel plus tungsten of 0.2.
