The disclosed technology is directed towards facilitating the creation of network sub-slices within a network slice. When a network slice having defined default specification data (e.g., quality of service and prioritization levels) is instantiated, resources of the network slice can be allocated to network sub-slices within the network slice. A network sub-slice has modified specification data relative to the default specification data. Upon connection of a mobile device to the network, if the mobile device is part of a group associated with a network slice and sub-slice, the mobile device traffic is handled based on its network slice default specification data as modified by the modified sub-slice specification data. Network sub-slices thus provide a way for variations within the parameter data of a network slice, without the overhead and need to instantiate a separate network slice for each variation needed by subscribing entities.

Sub-slicing within a network slice

The described technology is generally directed towards network slicing for private cellular networks (PCNs). Network slicing can be leveraged as described herein to meet security requirements and/or other policies applicable to PCNs. Network slices implemented according to this disclosure can comprise a private network slice, a public network slice, and a public safety network slice. User equipment can be provisioned with slice identifiers for the network slices, and applications at the user equipment can specify an appropriate slice identifier for their network communications. Network equipment can be configured to route application traffic to a specified slice and to allocate network resources according to the specified slice, as well as to implement security and other policies according to the specified slice.

Network slicing for private cellular networks

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting, by a wireless communication device, a transmission, by a radio access network node, of an alert message, identifying contents of the alert message, determining that the wireless communication device is authorized to relay the contents of the alert message, generating alert information comprising the contents of the alert message, and transmitting a ProSe direct discovery message comprising the alert information. A recording device provides conversation recording with real-time notification between users of communication terminals engaged in a conversation. The recording device provides a recording start notification to a second communication terminal in response to receiving an initiate recording request from a first communication terminal, and initiates recording of the conversation. The recording device terminates recording of the conversation in response to receiving a terminate recording request from the first communication terminal, provides a recording stop notification to the second communication terminal, and saves the recorded conversation to a file in a file storage medium. The recording start and recording stop notifications can be either audible or electronic notifications. The first communication terminal may be muted prior to providing a notification, and un-muted subsequent to the notification. The recording device may obtain permission from the second communication terminal to record the conversation.

In a wireless telecommunication system, Home Location Register logic generates a subscriber roaming profile for use by a Visitor Location Register by retrieving a subscriber's provisioned profile, retrieving a rule set associated with the subscriber, and applying the rule set to the set of provisioned service features indicated in the provisioned profile to generate a modified profile. The rules can be responsive to one or more of: the identity of the visited network, subscriber preferences, and provisioned features. The rules can be in the form of tables stored in the Home Location Register.

In a mobile communications system a visiting location register (VLR) associated with a switching center receives an address of an external control component and a service identifier identifying a service to be performed by the external control component from a home location register (HLR) associated with a mobile communications device. When a customer care call from the mobile communications device is received at the switching center, the switching center suspends call processing and queries the external control component utilizing the address from the VLR. The external control component performs the service indicated by the service indicator and determines a translation for the customer care call and returns information to the switching center for routing the call according to the translation. The translation may be determined at least in part according to the service performed by the external control component. The translation may be determined at least in part according to one or more of time of day, day of week, location of the switching center, or NPA-Nxx. The service indicator and address of the external control component may be provided by the HLR in Dialed CAMEL Subscription Information (D-CSI) associated with the mobile communication device.

Intelligent customer care support

Systems and methods are presented for a user-initiated process by which a voice mail retrieval number and/or voice mail deposit number can be reset without requiring the assistance of network customer support staff. In an exemplary embodiment, a voice mail retrieval number reset request can be in the form of a MAP-USSD message which, when received by a voice mail reset system results in the storage of the voice mail retrieval number at the communication device by over-the-air programming techniques. Likewise, a voice mail deposit number reset request can be in the form of a MAP-USSD message. The voice mail deposit number can be reset at an HLR by an ATM operation or a MAP-USSD message. In a further embodiment, the VMDN can be reset by sending an FSM message to the communication device.
