There is provided a metamaterial textile for providing wireless sensor network and method of designing such. The metamaterial textile comprising a sheet of metamaterial textile cut into a comb shape comprising long base with a plurality of metamaterial textile teeth extending along and from the base, wherein a gap is present between every two adjacent teeth, whereby, the metamaterial textile is configured to enable propagation of radio-surface plasmons wave along the metamaterial textile for providing wireless sensor network. The metamaterial textile is configured to control the height of the radio-surface plasmons wave by changing number of the metamaterial textile teeth, and changing dimensions of the metamaterial textile teeth and changing dimensions of the gaps.

Radio-wave confinement on metamaterial textiles for wireless sensor networking

Wirelessly powered photodynamic therapy devices are disclosed and systems and methods using such devices are also disclosed. In an embodiment, a photodynamic therapy system comprises: an implantable illumination device comprising a light source configured to emit light having a spectrum which overlaps with an absorption peak of an absorption target and a receiver antenna coupled to the light source and configured to extract power from a radiofrequency power signal incident on the implantable illumination device; and a transmitter comprising an antenna, a powering module configured to generate a drive signal which causes the antenna to generate the radiofrequency power signal, and a dosimetry module coupled to the antenna and configured to detect a radiofrequency signal backscattered from the implantable illumination device and determine an indication of the power extracted by the implantable illumination device from the radiofrequency signal backscattered from the implantable illumination device.

Photodynamic therapy devices, systems and methods

In a described embodiment, a sensor-based communication apparatus () is disclosed. The communication apparatus () comprises a plurality of sensor nodes () associated with respective unique pulse signatures () and adapted to communicate with respective sensors () with each sensor () configured to generate a sensory signal () in response to a respective stimulus (). Each sensor node () is triggered, upon receipt of the corresponding sensory signal (), to transmit the associated unique pulse signature () independently and asynchronously through a transmission medium () shared by the sensor nodes (), and the unique pulse signatures () transmitted by the sensor nodes () being a representation () of a stimulus event associated with the stimuli detected by the corresponding sensors (). A method and a communication medium are also disclosed.
