A lift device includes a chassis, a platform, a lift assembly coupling the platform to the chassis, an actuator, a sensor assembly, and a controller. The sensor assembly includes a bar including a first end portion coupled to the platform and a second end portion opposite the first end portion, a receiver positioned to receive the second end portion of the bar, and a sensor configured to detect at least one of (a) the second end portion of the bar contacting the sensor or (b) the second end portion of the bar exiting the receiver. The controller is operatively coupled to the sensor and the actuator and configured to control the actuator based on a signal from the sensor.

A golf club putter includes a head having an insert including face and base portions that interface with each other and are made of materials with dissimilar moduli of elasticity. The face portion can be a polymer and the base portion can be a metal. The face portion has a front facing surface that strikes the golf ball and an opposing rear surface with a smooth curved or stepped angled profile. The base portion has a front surface that interfaces with the rear surface of the face portion and is curved or stepped similar to the face portion. The front-to-back dimension of the face portion is thinnest at the center of the club head, and its thickness progressively increases as the curve of the rear surface of the face portion moves away from the club head center towards the heel and toe of the club head.

An automatic fryer apparatus and method of frying food products includes a cooking chamber, a heating mechanism disposed in the cooking chamber, and a pump disposed at an end of the cooking chamber to circulate cooking medium within the cooking chamber. Food product is added to the cooking chamber and flows along with the cooking medium in a flow direction. A controller controls a plurality of gates by individually actuating each gate. The controller stores data regarding predetermined time periods, which regulate when to raise and lower each gate. Food product moves downstream of each gate along a flow direction when each respective gate is raised. Food product is automatically transferred to a holding station when it reaches an outlet end of the cooking chamber.

An apparatus to secure a ladder to a ferromagnetic support such as an exposed ferromagnetic support comprises a pair of bracket clamping assemblies removably attached to a rung on a ladder. The brackets are pivotally bolted to magnet mounts, which each hold a permanent magnet that releasably holds the ladder in place against the support. The apparatus prevents the ladder from slipping, and further serves to hold the ladder at the proper angle for safe use. The apparatus finds particular application where exposed ferromagnetic metal beams are available in the workspace but tying a ladder for safety would be impractical.

Methods and systems of extending battery life of remote battery-operated timekeeping devices by minimizing the number of required synchronizations per unit of time needed to maintain a predetermined accuracy of the devices. The number of synchronizations are minimized by first calculating a time error rate between the remote timekeeping device and a master device over a sample period. Then, a synchronization is delayed and the remote timekeeping device is compensated based on the time error rate. The compensation delays the need for a synchronization yet maintains the predetermined accuracy of the remote timekeeping device. In some embodiments, the remote timekeeping device is compensated and multiple synchronizations are delayed before a new synchronization is necessary to maintain the predetermined accuracy.

System and method of increasing battery life of a timekeeping device

A mounting assembly and method of mounting an electrical unit to an automotive dashboard includes providing an electrical unit and operatively engaging the electrical unit to a cover, either an undercover of the instrument panel, or a cowl lining area. Alignment pins provided in the cover cooperate with openings in mounting tabs of the electrical unit for positioning the electrical unit while fastener screws are subsequently installed to secure the unit to the cover.

The invention relates to a brake system for railway equipment. More particularly, the invention relates to brake devices and systems for pneumatically and manually actuating such devices on railroad train cars such as freight cars. The brake system can be integrated into modern trains without interfering with existing air brake systems. The brake system can be remotely operated, locally pneumatically operated and/or locally manually operated. Monitoring equipment for determining the status of the brakes from remote and local positions may also be provided. The invention may be configured to fit within the envelope of prior art handbrake systems.

Stretch-wrap forming of titanium parts or the like by resistance heating the part and a steel forming element which is cast into a fused silica die insert. Heating is accomplished by an electrical circuit in which both the part and the element are connected in parallel. The part is stretch wrapped over the element while a low voltage, high amperage current is allowed to flow through both the part and the element.
