An electrical contact is provided. The electrical contact includes a body with a top surface, a bottom surface, and side edges. The body includes a retention finger formed integral with the body and the retention finger is adapted to secure the body to a carrier. The carrier has at least one hole from the first surface to the second surface. The retention finger extends through at least one hole to engage the second surface of the carrier.

Electrical contact and connector

An interconnection system, comprising: a first connector having an arrangement of contacts therein; and a second connector, mateable with said first connector, and having an arrangement of contacts therein. The second connector can mate with the first connector in a plurality of orientations. An electrical connector, comprising: an insulative housing; and a plurality of contacts in said insulative housing. The connector has four quadrants, with each quadrant housing some of the contacts in an orientation. Each quadrant has an orientation that is different than the other quadrants.

Electrical connector mateable in a plurality of orientations

An electrical connector comprising a housing and electrical contacts connected to the housing. The electrical contacts comprise paired signal and ground contacts, and additional ground contacts. The additional ground contacts are arranged relative to the paired contacts to divide the paired contacts into subdivisions of equal numbers of the paired contacts. The subdivisions and the additional ground contacts are arranged to allow for multiple relative orientation connections of a mating connector.

Electrical connector with grounding system

A stiffener assembly for mechanically supporting the main body of an electrical connector to a circuit substrate, such as a daughterboard Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The PCB stiffener assembly is utilized to minimize bowing in the PC Board. The stiffener assembly includes a two-piece or split body having a top clamp and a bottom channel. A latch formed on the top clamp fits over and connectively engages a retention structure disposed on a rear surface of the connector housing. A bottom portion of the top clamp is disposed within the bottom channel. The bottom channel rests on the PCB and the legs of the bottom channel extend upward form the surface of the PCB. One leg of the bottom channel rest against the rear panel and fits under the retention structure. Fasteners pass through the PCB and the bottom channel and engage the top clamp thereby retaining the connector on the PCB. The stiffener assembly simultaneously aligns one or more connector modules to one another creating a one piece &ldquo;mono-block&rdquo; like effect while at the same time acting to stiffen the PCB thereby reducing any PCB bowing. The two-piece stiffener assembly allows for individual connector modules to be removed from the PCB by simply removing the top clamp portion of the PCB stiffener assembly. The stiffener provides a mechanism for mechanically supporting the main body of a connector module to a daughterboard PCB in a manner that is easy to manufacture and cost effective.
