A method for printing onto a substrate is disclosed. An ink is printed onto a liquid polymer layer to form a printed polymer layer. Printed substrates are also disclosed.

Printed substrate and method for printing onto a substrate

The present invention relates to a method of forming a surface covering for example wallpaper or a floor covering and an apparatus for forming a surface covering, in which a surface covering raw material is supplied, the surface covering raw material comprising a substrate and a resin layer comprising a resin and a carrier liquid, the resin being dispersed in the carrier liquid and being capable of gelling or curing with the carrier liquid. A pattern is then applied to the resin layer by inkjet printing, and the surface covering raw material with the pattern formed on the resin layer is heated to gel or cure the resin layer to thereby prepare a surface covering.

Provided is a method for applying an ink for applying an oil-based ink to a resin composition layer of a target including a base and the resin composition layer formed over a surface of the base, the method including: a pretreatment step of pre-treating the target before the oil-based ink is applied, with at least one surface treatment for improving a wetting/spreading property of the oil-based ink; a step of applying the oil-based ink to the target that has undergone the pretreatment step; and a post-treatment step of post-treating the target after the oil-based ink is applied, with at least one surface treatment for improving a wetting/spreading property of the oil-based ink.

A water-in-oil emulsion ink comprises a water phase and an oil phase, wherein the water phase comprises a carbon black pigment having a pH of less than 6. The emulsion ink maintains stable rheology on ageing.
