Various implementations disclosed herein includes a method for operating lighting fixtures in horticultural applications. The method may include receiving a user input of a desired irradiance for a first color channel of one or more lighting fixtures that irradiates a plant bed, in which each of the one or more lighting fixtures comprises at least one light emitting diode (LED) array, determining, for each of the one or more lighting fixtures, a PWM setting of the first color channel such that each of the one or more lighting fixtures irradiate the plant bed at the desired irradiance based on calibration data stored in each of the one or more lighting fixtures, and applying, to each of the one or more lighting fixtures, the determined PWM setting of the first color channel.

Irradiance-controlled fixture for horticultural applications

Techniques are disclosed for making a flexible laminated circuit board using a metal conductor onto which a SMD may be attached. Conductive metal strips may be laminated to form a flexible substrate and the metal strips may then be perforated for the placement of LED package leads. The LED packages may be attached to the conductive strips using solder or a conductive epoxy and the upper laminate layer may include perforations exposing portions of the metal strips for the attachment of the LED packages. Alternatively, strings of LED packages may be fabricated by attaching LED packages to conductive strips and these strings may be laminated between flexible sheets to form a laminated LED circuit. Plastic housings may aid in attaching the LED packages to the conductive strips. The plastic housings and/or the laminate sheets may be made of a reflective material.

Flexible circuit board for LED lighting fixtures

Techniques are disclosed herein for a lighting interface system configured to adjust tunable lighting characteristics output by one or more lighting devices based on a plurality of simple, intuitive touch-gestures without necessarily providing visual indicators via a display screen or other feedback elements. The lighting interface system is implemented as a relatively simple touchpad device that is wall-mounted or portable depending on a desired configuration. The lighting interface system is configured to capture user-gestures via the touchpad device and translate the same into target lighting characteristics and an adjustment value to adjust each of the target lighting characteristics thereby. User gestures are adjustably mapped to lighting characteristics including, for example, intensity, color temperature, hue and color saturation. The lighting interface system is also configured to recognize navigation gestures, which allow a user to target one or more specific lighting devices to make adjustments thereto.

There is provided a phosphor blend for an LED light source comprising from about 25 to about 35 weight percent of a cerium-activated yttrium aluminum garnet phosphor, from about 5 to about 10 weight percent of a europium-activated strontium calcium silicon nitride phosphor, and from about 50 to about 75 weight percent of a europium-activated calcium magnesium chlorosilicate phosphor. An LED light source in accordance with this invention has a B:G:R ratio for a 5500 K daylight balanced color film of X:Y:Z when directly exposed through a nominal photographic lens, wherein X, Y and Z each have a value from 0.90 to 1.10.

Phosphor blend for an LED light source and LED light source incorporating same

A phosphor blend for an LED light source is provided wherein the phosphor blend comprises from about 7 to about 12 weight percent of a cerium-activated yttrium aluminum garnet phosphor, from about 3 to about 6 weight percent of a europium-activated strontium calcium silicon nitride phosphor, from about 15 to about 20 weight percent of a europium-activated calcium silicon nitride phosphor, and from about 55 to about 80 weight percent of a europium-activated calcium magnesium chlorosilicate phosphor. An LED light source in accordance with this invention has a B:G:R ratio for a 3200K tungsten balanced color film of X:Y:Z when directly exposed through a nominal photographic lens, wherein X, Y and Z each have a value from 0.90 to 1.10.

A light emitting diode (LED) lighting system including a lighting apparatus comprising at least one printed circuit board having an array of light emitting diode (LED) chips mounted thereto, the printed circuit board including a segmented conductor pathway configured to electrically couple at least a portion of the array of LED chips, and a portion of the printed circuit board forming a card edge connector, the card edge connector including a portion of the segmented conductor pathway which provides an electrical contact configured to electrically couple the segmented conductor pathway to a power source.

LED lighting apparatus, systems and methods of manufacture

A light-emitting diode package is described comprising a body including a hollow having a rim that extends outwardly from an open end of the hollow. A light emitting diode is positioned in the hollow and opposite the open end. A nongaseous transparent optical medium fills the hollow and a phosphor-containing element (PCE) is disposed over the hollow sealing the open end. The PCE has a solid body and a lateral portion including a periphery and dividing a top and a bottom. The bottom of the PCE is convex and in contact with the nongaseous transparent optical medium and the periphery of the PCE is in contact with the rim.

A light emitting diode (LED) lighting apparatus including an array of first optic elements overlying an array of LED chips, wherein each of the LED chips is configured to emit light of a first wavelength range through a light emitting surface of the overlying first optic element. The optical disk includes a tapered surface such that a center area of the disk has a width greater than a width of an outer area of the disk.
