A method of removing sulphur oxides from flue gases comprises atomizing a wet alkali slurry into a slurry spray. A pneumatically conveyed dry reactive recycled flyash is supplied in an annular pattern around the slurry spray to efficiently utilize the flyash without experiencing difficulties which were experienced in the prior art with regard to a wet mixture of the flyash.

Method for flyash recycling in a dry SO.sub.2 scrubber

An improved vapor-liquid separator having a vertically disposed conduit for flow of a mixture. A first, second and third plurality of curved arms penetrate and extend within the conduit. A cylindrical member is radially spaced from the conduit forming an annulus therewith and having perforations and a retaining lip at its upper end.

Combination downflow-upflow vapor-liquid separator

An improved centrifugal separator for vapor-liquid mixtures having a vertical upflow conduit closed at the top end and open at the bottom end. A plurality of curved arms similar in shape to a truncated torus of rectangular cross-section penetrate and extend within the conduit at its upper portion. A second plurality of curved arms are located immediately below the upper group and are contiguous thereto. The vertical upflow conduit has a lesser internal diameter in the lower portion, interconnected with a greater internal diameter portion in the upper portion by a frusto-conical section.
