Lateral adapter for biopsy system

An adapter for securing a biopsy guidance module to a breast imaging system includes an adapter body which includes a first side and an opposite second side. An armature extends from the first side of the body. A latch mechanism is disposed proximate an end of the armature distal from the first side of the body. The latch mechanism includes an adapter latch and an actuator. The adapter latch is configured to engage an interface on the breast imaging system. The actuator is engaged with the adapter latch to move the adapter latch from an unlocked position to a locked position. In the locked position, the adapter latch is releasably engaged with the interface. A keeper is disposed on the second side of the body. The keeper is configured to receive a module latch from the biopsy guidance module.

Systems and methods for lateral treatments of the breast

Imaging system

A biopsy device includes a lateral member; a gun mount configured to support a biopsy gun, the gun mount being connected to the lateral member and movable along a first axis with respect to the lateral member, and a sensor which detects a position of the gun mount along the first axis with respect to the lateral member and generates positional data which is provided to an interface module. The gun mount can also be reconfigured in orientations which are offset in a dimension which is orthogonal to the first axis, orientations rotationally offset about the first axis or an axis parallel to the first axis. The lateral member can be in right hand and left hand orientations. Various sensors detect these reconfigurations and provide corresponding data to the interface module for additional calculations and display.

Breast biopsy lateral arm system

A breast biopsy lateral arm system includes a removable gun mount which attaches to a carriage that traverses along an X-axis defined by a lateral arm in order to position a biopsy needle relative to a patient. The carriage rides along the lateral arm on self-adjusting rollers which are loaded against the lateral arm by spring members. A cam-actuated carriage slide lock can be used to secure the carriage in a desired position relative to the lateral arm. A cam-actuated removable gun mount lock allows the gun mount to be quickly changed and offset orthogonally with respect to the X-axis. An X-axis stop can be used to establish a position to which the carriage can be returned with accuracy.

A funneling apparatus is provided that can be used in filling a food item, such as a taco shell. The funneling apparatus includes two opposing elongated walls connected on their ends by two opposing end walls. An opening is formed inside the funneling apparatus between the elongated walls and the end walls, which includes a top portion configured to receive contents and a bottom portion configured to dispense the contents. A concave section is provided along the base of each of the first elongated wall the second elongated wall. During use of the funneling apparatus with an item such as a taco shell, the concave section exposes the interior of the side walls formed by the taco shell. The end walls of the funneling apparatus prevent the contents inserted into the opening from spilling out of the taco shell.
