A centralized network system allows users at different remote sources to initiate a process to disable recording of different communication signals from the different remote sources. The communication signals are received from the different remote sources during conferences. A user request is also received from one of the remote sources to disable recording of one of the different communication signals. Users at multiple of the different remote sources are simultaneously authorized and enabled to begin a process to disable recording of one of the different communication signals.

Per-conference-leg recording control for multimedia conferencing

A method and system of controlling recordation and transmission of audio and video signals on a per-conference-leg basis are described. By providing a recordation and transmission control mechanism, teleconference participants may request to go 'off-the-record.' A per-conference-leg recording and transmission control system enhances the flexibility of teleconference participant's interaction with one or more other participants. The control system and method may further allow a single individual to control the recordation and transmission of the teleconference or alternatively, grant each participant individual control over their own conference leg.

A method for identifying new customers or recently changed telephone services is disclosed. The methodology discovers systems and methods for capturing telephone numbers that appear on the records of recent telephone calls of a communications network, which can or cannot be a network customer, and categorizing the telephone number as a known telephone number or an unknown telephone number. The methodology includes looking-up a name and address for telephone numbers, which are categorized as unknown telephone numbers, in a current directory service. A comparison can be performed using the looked-up name and address from the current directory service with names and addresses in a historical data source. If the looked-up name and address from the current directory service differ from name and address in the historical data source, the unknown telephone number is identified as a new customer or a recently changed telephone service.

Method for identifying new or recently changed telephone service

A system, apparatus and method automatically update address information of a user's outgoing and incoming messages to/from a communication network thereby relieving the user of the burden of manually entering address changes into a user address book. A plurality of users are coupled through terminals to a server in the communication network for exchanging telephone, CATV, Internet, intranet for messaging, facsimile, etc purposes. The server includes a message store; stored message profile; and is coupled to a change server linked to a network. The change server includes search rules and change options provided by the users in directing the change server in finding correct and alternative address information when erroneous or unknown information is detected in the outgoing and incoming messages. Each user address book includes a series of contacts for each user. Each contact is identified by an identification number, ID, including a name and address. The server detects message headers where a &ldquo;Send To Address&rdquo; is not in the address book. The change server is activated and accesses external databases for correct or alternative addresses in accordance with search rules provided by the user. The alternative or correct address books address information is installed in the users address book and the &ldquo;Send To Message&rdquo; process is executed. For returned messages incorporating erroneous information, the search server is again activated to access the databases for correct address information, after which the user's address book is updated thereby eliminating the time-consuming, irritating manual process of updating the user address book for outgoing and incoming messages.

System, apparatus and method for automatic address updating of outgoing and incoming user messages in a communications network

A method for transferring money is described. This method can include providing a cash card having stored thereon an amount of money; making a telephone call to a predetermined telephone number using the cash card as a payment device for the telephone call; dialing a predetermined suffix to the predetermined telephone number followed by a desired dollar amount; debiting the cash card by the desired dollar amount; and, crediting an account associated with the predetermined telephone number by the desired dollar amount.

Method for transferring money

An individual transfers money from a cash card (or the account that the cash card is tied to) by making a wireless phone call to another individual. A combination of a MONDEX style card with the individual phone cards are used for this purpose. This electronic cash (&ldquo;ecash&rdquo;) ecash/phone card is inserted into the phone to activate it for billing use and serves as the basis for a cash transaction. For example, person A makes a telephone call to person B and dials a suffix after the number to indicate the transaction and the amount. For example, one could transfer money to another card or account holder from one's card by dialing their number followed by CASH&num;200&num; to transfer 200 dollars to the other account. The card is then capable of being used as a cash card to make purchases or as a phone card to make calls. A database links the identity of the caller to the cash account and the transaction appears as part of a bank statement or as part of a wireless phone bill. A user could use his wireless phone to dial an account number and transfer money by entering the amount via DTMF or by speaking the amount to an ASR application connected to the database. A user could also use the phone to make purchases via the card by just dialing a number and having an anonymous purchase made of the item. Since the user would be identified by the wireless network, the user would not have to enter any additional information about identification or credit card. The number that the user dialed could then debit the user's card directly and the item could be delivered without any need for the user to enter more information.
