Preblends of sulfur and N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide, optionally with diphenylguanadine, can be stabilized against deterioration by incorporating with these materials at least one additive selected from the group consisting phthalic anhydride, phthalic acid and tetrahydrophthalic anhydride. Vulcanizable rubber compounds containing aged preblends with these additives exhibit reduced scorch as compared to aged preblends without said additives.

Preblends

Cured rubbery carbon black reinforced EPDM roofing membranes are joined at their primed seams by a seaming tape comprising a carbon black reinforced compounded lightly cured blend of a butyl rubber and a polyisobutylene. The tape can exhibit a peel strength of at least about 2.5 pli at about 158.degree. F.

EPDM laminate

A pneumatic tire having a pocket filled with lubricant attached to the inner sidewall of the tire having a puncture sealant surrounded by an O-ring built into the inside wall of the pocket. The puncture sealant allows lubricant to be injected into the pocket by use of a syringe and eliminates the need for subsequent sealing of the pocket and leakage of lubricant from the pocket.

Disclosed is a sulfur-cured rubber article that has high resistance to reversion and low compression set which is post-modified to improve its fatigue life. The method involves introducing additional elemental sulfur in solution into the low sulfur-cured rubber article subsequent to curing.

Rubber articles having improved fatigue life

Blends of low molecular weight crystalline polyethylene and crystalline EPDM polymers exhibit good processing and on curing show unexpected high flexural modulus. The addition of reinforcing agents will raise the modulus and other physical properties but the processability can remain satisfactory.

Polyethylene-EDPM compositions

Blends of crystalline EPDM rubbery polymers, high m.w. ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers and polyalphamethyl styrene exhibit good processing characteristics and physical properties. Part of the EVA may be replaced with low m.w. crystalline polyethylene. The addition of reinforcing agents will raise the modulus and other physical properties while still retaining favorable processing characteristics.
