A dual line slip printer wherein a slip is dropped into a chute to bottom against a supporting member and a serially operated inkjet print head is moved along the length of the slip to print a line of type characters and is then returned to print a second line of characters. As the print head reaches the end of its travel it actuates a camming member to raise the support member to move the slip from one level to another so that the second row of characters will be spaced vertically from the first.

Dual line slip printer

A data printer wherein a slip is dropped in a guide chute and a serially operable print head is moved along the length of the slip to print a line of characters. A line feed device comprises a drive gear meshing with a driven gear carrying a feed roller for frictionally advancing the slip from one print line position, extending parallel to the length of the slip, to the next. The driven gear is moveable about the axis of the drive gear and is forced into frictional engagement with the slip by the rotational force imparted to the driven gear by the drive gear.

Data printer

When the dollar amount of the transaction is first keyed into a machine, a number intended to indicate the dollar amount is printed onto the document both in an optically readable non-magnetic code and in ordinary numerals. By optically reading the non-magnetic code from the document a set of electronic signals is created which represents the number indicative of the dollar amount, and in direct response to that set of electronic signals the number is then printed onto the document in magnetic ink.

A printer for printing data on a form sheet and duplicate or related data on a journal tape in which the form sheet is fed lengthwise past a stationary ink jet printer head to print a line of characters and thereafter the print head is fed across the journal tape while the latter is stationary whereby to print a line of duplicate or related characters across the tape. Forms of different lengths can be printed.

Strip printer

A printer for printing data on an original slip and on a copy slip in which both are dropped into a guide chute. Feed and pinch rollers having a higher degree of friction that the friction between the slips tend to drive both slips along the chute and past an ink jet printer. However, a brake initially prevents rotation of the pinch roller and thus retains one of the slips while the other slip is advanced past the printer, at which time the brake is released to enable the feed roller to advance the remaining slip past the printer.

Cash register

A fixed data printer is associated with a variable transaction data printer to print a customer receipt and includes a pivoted tape guide member having a tear-off edge by which the tape is severed after passing through the transaction data printer. When the tape is severed over the tear-off edge, a platen section on the guide member presses the tape against a printing member having type thereon representing fixed data, such as a store name, advertising material, etc. to transfer an impression of such fixed data to the tape.

A solenoid having reduced noise and jarring characteristics which includes a small shock absorbing sphere of rubber or other elastomeric material freely mounted between the solenoid armature and a stationary core piece of the solenoid so as to be engaged and compressed by the armature at the end of its travel.
