A cohesive polymer matrix comprising a matrix polymer and a coated particulate filler dispersed therein, characterized in that the matrix polymer is an emulsion rubber, and the filler is coated at least in part with a composition comprising an organic coating polymer of number average molecular weight of 4,500 to 200,000 which contains an acidic group (or a precursor thereof) and an unsaturated group, optionally linked to the matrix polymer and a process for its production.

Fillers

An aqueous selfcrosslinkable coating composition which comprises an aqueous dispersion of at least one polymer having chain-pendant amine groups and certain selected non-polymeric ketone-containing compounds, particularly acetoacetates and acetoacetamides, whereby selfcrosslinking is effected, often at ambient or low temperatures, during and/or after film formation.

Compositions comprising an oligomer which (a) on average comprises at least one in-chain residue of the general formula ##STR1## wherein Ar.sup.1 is an aromatic group, R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group, X is a group which activates Ar.sup.1 to electrophilic attack, and Y.sup.1 is an organic residue bearing a carboxyl substituent; and (b) has one or more pendant and/or terminal acyloxymethyl groups are described. They may be used in dental, electronic and electrical applications.

Aromatic oligomers

Mixtures containing active hydrogen compounds such as polyols and aminoalcohols useful for the production of polyurethane foams and also containing trichlorofluoromethane or 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane as foam blowing agent, are stabilized against reaction of the active hydrogen compound(s) with the chlorofluorohydrocarbon by incorporating a stabilizing amount of amylene, ortho-(isopropenyl) aniline or diisobutylene.

Chlorofluorohydrocarbon compositions

A coated particulate filler to the surface of which there is bound an acid group-containing organic polymer which also comprises a nitrogen-containing group capable of reacting with an organic polymeric material. The acidic group may be a carboxylic acid group and the nitrogen-containing group may be an amide group or an amine group, especially a alkylamine or a polyakylamine derivative of an amine group. The organic polymeric material may contain ethylenically unsaturated groups or halogen groups, and reaction may take place during cross-linking of the organic polymeric material. Compositions comprising coated particulate filler and organic polymeric material have improved tensile modulus.

A coated particulate filler having bound thereto a material comprising an acidic group reactive with the filler and a sulphur-containing group which is not reactive with the filler but which is decomposable to a sulphur-containing species which is capable of taking part in a sulphur-based curing reaction, a composition containing the filler and an organic polymeric material which contains ethylenic unsaturation and which is curable by reaction with sulphur, a process for producing the coated particulate filler, and a process for producing the composition.
