A relational database method and apparatus includes a database that is divided into multiple data segments, each of which may be independently stored on one of a variety of storage devices. As data from the relational database is being loaded, the number of data segments will increase. A range index is used as a high level filter to determine which indices and data segments will be used to process a query of the database.

Method and apparatus for segmenting a database

A cover for an ice cube tray includes a top portion for covering the top of an ice cube tray and sidewalls joined to the top portion which permits the top portion to be raised to a position at which the top position is spaced above the tray top. The cover also includes flanges joined to the sidewalls for limiting the distance that the top portion can be raised above the tray top. Once the cover raised to its spaced, or elevated, position and the tray and cover are inverted and canted to an inclined condition, the top portion and sidewalls provide a chute for accepting ice cubes dropped from the tray and for directing the dropped ice cubes off the lower end of the cover.

A method for formatting data is disclosed in which a bitstream containing a very large number of bits is divided into a number of frames all of which are the same size except for a last frame which can have a smaller size than the other frames. Each frame has a frame header and a data portion and the data portion can include a number of records which each contain a record header and data portion. A frame directory specifies certain parameters for all frames of a bitstream.

Framing bitstreams

A safety matchbook comprises a cardboard blank folded so as to form a matchbook, retains a plurality of matches and has a striking surface within a chamber for igniting a match. The striking surface is concealed within a tubular chamber formed by the folds of the cardboard blank and is accessible through a hole in a side of the chamber. The match, which is bent or scored at a point immediately below its head, is ignited by inserting the end of the match opposite the head into the hole so that the opposite end extends through one end of the tubular chamber. The match is then pulled through the chamber, thereby drawing the head of the match across the striking surface, igniting the match.
