A submunition delivery device including a master electronics module; a submunition module operatively connected to the master electronics module and including a plurality of submunition banks separated by bulkheads. Each of the submunition banks includes a plurality of submunitions; a base plug module operatively connected to the submunition module; and a distributed fuze module operatively connected to the master electronics module to limit a detrimental effect of the plurality of submunitions upon a collision by arming the plurality of submunitions before a dispense action.

Distributed fuze architecture for highly reliable submunitions

A sabot system is defined by a tubular arrangement of curvilinear segments with the tubular arrangement being closed on a first end thereof and open on a second end thereof. The tubular arrangement defines a first outer diameter at its first end and a second and larger outer diameter at its second end. Each segment is made from an elastic material such that when the tubular arrangement is compressed radially at its second end, each of the segments stores a spring force.

Curvilinear sabot system

A multi-directional shock sensor including two masses arranged to move in directions, which are mutually perpendicular to one another. A moveable locking member prevents movement of a slider, which is used in the arming arrangement of a submunition. In response to an acceleration in a plane, one or both masses will move. The masses are operably coupled to the locking member to effect its movement out of its locking engagement with the slider, due to such acceleration.

MEMS multi-directional shock sensor with multiple masses

A reloadable launcher for use with rocket-propelled projectiles. An inner and outer tube define a concentric tube arrangement with at least one gas flow channel being defined therebetween. A ring is fixedly coupled to a first end of the outer tube that is adjacent to the breech end of the inner tube. The ring defines a keyway and an annular channel that lies between the keyway and the first end of the outer tube. A cap having a concave inner surface terminates in a peripheral edge that defines a key shaped for passage through the keyway of the ring. When the cap's key is aligned with and moved axially through the keyway, the key resides in the annular channel adjacent the first end of the outer tube. A link is hingedly coupled on one end thereof to the ring to permit the cap to be moved such that a projectile can be loaded into the inner tube from the breech end thereof. The link is also rotationally coupled to the cap's central portion such that the cap can be rotated thereabout. As a result, when the key resides in the annular channel and the cap is rotated about it's central portion, the key is misaligned with the keyway to axially lock the cap to the outer tube.

Reloadable concentric canister launcher

A rocket motor having a desensitizing mechanism for preventing explosion or violent reaction during slow cook-off is provided. The rocket motor includes a case contained rocket propellant with a desensitizing assembly attached forward of the propellant charge. The desensitizing assembly is formed with an enclosure containing a desensitizing fluid, and connected to the interior of the rocket motor by a tube which is sealed by a heat sensitive plug. The heat sensitive plug melts at a temperature below the slow cook-off temperature of the rocket propellant. The melting of the plug allows the desensitizing fluid to be ejected into the interior of the casing and onto the propellant charges, thereby, desensitizing the propellant charge.
