A control system includes a power converter being a step-down voltage converter and including a power switch. The power converter is operable to generate an adjustable output voltage and includes a sensor circuit configured to measure at least one of a voltage and an electric current of the heater. The control system includes a controller connected to the power converter and the sensor circuit. The controller is configured to determine an input parameter based on the at least one of the voltage and the electric current. The input parameter is indicative of a temperature of the heater. The controller is configured to set the output voltage applied for the heater based on the input parameter and a desired setpoint. The desired setpoint is based on an operational state of the heater. The controller is configured to operate the power switch of the power converter to generate the output voltage.

Power converter for a thermal system

A control system for controlling an adjustable output voltage provided to a heater includes a controller configured to determine an input parameter based on an electrical characteristic of the heater, where the heater includes a resistive heating element that is operable to emit heat and as a sensor. The controller is further configured to determine an output voltage for the heater based on the input parameter and a desired setpoint, and to transmit a signal to a power converter to generate the output voltage. The desired setpoint is based on an operational state of the heater, and the input parameter includes data indicative of a temperature of the resistive heating element that is determined based on the electrical characteristic.

A power converter system includes an input rectifier configured to rectify a line power having a line energy and a full-bridge isolating converter comprising a transformer, where the full-bridge isolating converter is configured to generate an isolated output voltage based on the rectified line power, and where the isolated output voltage is electrically isolated from the line energy. The power converter system includes a power controller configured to operate the full-bridge isolating converter to generate the isolated output voltage, determine whether the transformer is operating in a flux walk state based on an electric current of the transformer, and perform a corrective action in response to the transformer operating in the flux walk state.

Isolated power converter for a thermal system

Disclosed herein are systems and devices which are capable of detecting moisture and remotely indicating when the presence of moisture is detected. The systems utilize multilayer sensors that consist of two conductive layers surrounding an insulating, spacer layer. Nonwoven materials with conductive additives have shown particular advantages for use in constructing the conductive sensor layers. The system includes transmitter and receiver devices configured to provide indicators when moisture is detected through audible signals, vibration, visible signals or through notifications displayed on a software application. The conductive layers can also be placed in signal communication with a human body to draw electrical current to ground. Removing current results in the reduction of pain, improved sleep, and other physiological changes of clinical significance.

Moisture detection systems and devices

Disclosed herein are systems and devices which are capable of detecting moisture and remotely indicating when the presence of moisture is detected. The multilayer sensor can be electrically coupled to a transmitter that is itself in electrical communication with one or more receiver devices. The transmitter and receiver devices are configured to provide indicators when moisture is detected through audible signals, vibration, visible signals or through notifications displayed on a software application. The sensor and/or the transmitter may be attached along a perimeter of the layers. The layered sensor may be affixed to an inside or outside of a package for location tracking, or may be attached to or incorporated in a diaper, as non-limiting examples.

The present disclosure is directed toward a control system for controlling a heater system. The control system includes a plurality of zone control circuits, at least two auxiliary controllers, and a primary controller. The zone control circuits are operable to provide power to a plurality of heater zones of the heater system and to sense performance characteristics of the zones. The auxiliary controllers are coupled to the plurality of zone control circuits to control power to the plurality of zones and to monitor operation of the heater zones based on the performance characteristics. The primary controller is coupled to the auxiliary controllers and is configured to provide an operation set-point for each of the heater zones based on the performance characteristics. The auxiliary controllers operate the zone control circuits to supply power to the heater system based on the operation set-point.

A power converter system provides adjustable power to a heater and includes an input rectifier and a full-bridge isolating converter. The input rectifier is configured to rectify a line power having a line energy. The full-bridge isolating converter configured to generate an isolated output voltage based on the rectified line power. The isolated output voltage is electrically isolated from the line energy.

The present disclosure generally describes a system that includes a heater, a power converter including a power switch, and a controller. The power converter is in communication with the heater and is operable to apply an adjustable voltage to the heater. The controller is in communication with the power switch to control the voltage output of the power converter based on at least one of a load current and a detected voltage at the heater. The controller operates the power switch to adjust the voltage output of the power converter.

A thermal array system is provided. The system includes a first thermal element and a second thermal element connected between a first node and a second node. The first thermal element being activated and the second thermal element being deactivated by a first polarity of the first node relative to the second node. Further, the first thermal element being deactivated and the second thermal element being activated by a second polarity of the first node relative to the second node.

A system and method is provided. In one aspect, the system and method may calculate a time period for each mode of a plurality of modes. The system and method may index through each mode for the corresponding time period to provide power to the plurality of thermal elements according to the mode. In another aspect the system and method may index sequentially through each mode of a plurality of modes and apply power to an indexed mode while measuring an electrical characteristic of the thermal elements for the indexed mode.

System and method for controlling a thermal array

A system and method is provided. The system and method calculate target setpoints for each thermal element and index through each thermal element to provide power to the thermal element, sense an electrical characteristic of the thermal element, and determine if the thermal element exceeds a target setpoint for the thermal element based on the sensed electrical characteristic.

A thermal system includes a plurality of thermal elements and a control system. The control system has at least three power nodes, wherein each thermal element of the plurality of thermal elements is connected between a pair of power nodes, such that each power node has one thermal element connected between itself and each other power node.

A control circuit for controlling an arc suppression circuit includes a serial communication link communicating a serial signal therethrough. The control circuit includes a microprocessor having a serial input communicating with the serial communication link. The microprocessor generates a control output signal in response to the serial signal. The control circuit further includes the arc suppression circuit having an electrical contact and operating in response to the control output signal to reduce an arc at the electrical contact.

A 1/16 DIN power controller configuration is provided that includes a housing, a circuit board carrier disposed within the housing and capable of engaging at least three circuit boards within the housing, a power supply circuit board disposed within the housing and engaged by the circuit board carrier, and a communications circuit board disposed adjacent the power supply circuit board within the housing and engaged by the circuit board carrier. The communications circuit board includes Ethernet/IP and/or Modbus TCP protocols, and in alternate forms includes RS-232 and RS-485 with Modbus RTU protocol, DeviceNet, Profibus DP, CanOpen, and/or EtherCat.
