A device comprises a radio frequency (RF) signal generator and a calibration system. The RF signal generator is configured to upconvert a baseband signal to an RF signal using first and second LO signals. The RF signal generator comprises first and second signal paths to process first and second differential signals. The calibration system comprises calibration control circuitry and actuator circuitry. In response to digital control signals generated by the calibration control circuitry, the actuator circuitry is configured to: inject currents into the first and second signal paths to adjust offsets of the first and second differential signals, and to balance amplitudes of the first and second differential signals; and adjust at least one of respective duty cycles of the first and second local oscillator signals, and a phase difference between the first and second local oscillator signals.

One or more systems, devices and/or methods of use provided herein relate to a baseband filter that can be used in a current-mode end-to-end signal path. The current-mode end-to-end signal path can include a digital to analog converter (DAC) operating in current-mode and an upconverting mixer, operating in current-mode and operatively coupled to the DAC. In one or more embodiments, a device used in the signal path can comprise a baseband filter that receives an input current and outputs an output current. The baseband filter can comprise a feedback loop component having an active circuit branch and a passive circuit branch coupled in a loop. A mirroring device can be coupled to the feedback loop component and can provide an output of the device. Selectively activating the mirroring device can vary gain, such as of the mirroring device.

Baseband filter for current-mode signal path

A system and method for compensating segmented DAC intrinsic INL by adjusting the relative strength of DAC thermometer segments. In the method, the strength of each thermometer segment is adjusted sequentially to reduce INL to 0 at one point on each thermometer code range. The strength of the binary section is also adjusted to further reduce INL while conserving output amplitude. The system includes a calibration circuit that senses the DAC differential output and compares it to an ideal output generated from the same DAC via dithering between 0 and a maximum code. The compensation scheme only performs a specific type of DAC compensation, specifically compensating for systematic non-linearity rather than for mismatch-induced non-linearity. The method can also be applied to calibrate a full thermometer DAC.

A device includes a logic circuit comprising a clockless single flux quantum logic gate which comprises a plurality of input ports, an output port, an output Josephson junction, and a plurality of dynamic storage loop circuits and isolation buffer circuits. The output Josephson junction is coupled to an output of each dynamic storage loop circuit and configured to drive the output port. Each isolation buffer circuit is coupled to a respective input port, and a respective dynamic storage loop circuit and configured to absorb a circulating current of an antifluxon which is injected into the respective dynamic storage loop circuit to prevent the antifluxon from being output from the respective input port, and to inject a fluxon into the respective dynamic storage loop circuit in response to a single flux quantum pulse applied to the respective input port, and annihilate an antifluxon present in the respective dynamic storage loop circuit.

A system comprises a superconducting quantizing inductor and superconducting control circuitry, which is coupled to the superconducting quantizing inductor to form a superconducting loop, and which is configured to selectively inject a quantized amount of positive or negative current into the superconducting loop to generate a quantized circulating current in the superconducting loop. The quantized circulating current comprises a time-varying or static circulating current. The superconducting control circuitry comprises first and second current generator circuits which comprise a first and second plurality of Josephson junctions, respectively, which are configured to inject quantized amounts of positive current and negative current into the superconducting loop in response to single flux quantum pulses. The first and second current generator circuits comprise respective first and second current distribution networks that are configured to distribute circulating current in the superconducting loop to the respective Josephson junctions without causing switching of the Josephson junctions.

A mixer includes two inputs, where each input is coupled to an output of one of the first and second 1:N frequency dividers. A low-pass filter has an input coupled to an output of the mixer and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) has an input coupled to an output of the low-pass filter. A data collection and analysis block repeatedly changes a phase of an output of the first 1:N divider, collects a set of digitized data generated by the ADC, and estimates the phase difference between the two signals based on the set of digitized data.

A current-mode end-to-end signal path can include a digital to analog converter (DAC) operating in current-mode and an upconverting mixer, operating in current-mode and operatively coupled to the DAC. Analog inputs and outputs of the DAC and upconverting mixer can be represented as currents, and the DAC can generate a baseband signal. The DAC and upconverting mixer each can comprise switching transistors of the same type, such as p-type metal-oxide semiconductor (PMOS) switching transistors. In one or more embodiments, a current source and a diode-connected transistor can be arranged in parallel in the current-mode signal path, and the current source passes a static current, while the diode-connected transistor passes both a static current and a dynamic current.

Techniques are provided for calibrating signal currents in a radio frequency signal generator system, such as an arbitrary waveform generator system. A device comprises a current measurement circuit and a current imbalance correction circuit. The current measurement circuit is configured, during a calibration process, to measure a first current in a first signal path of a radio frequency signal generator, and to measure a second current in a second signal path of the radio frequency signal generator. The current imbalance correction circuit is configured to adjust a current level in at least one of the first signal path and the second signal path of the radio frequency signal generator to correct for an imbalance between the measured first current and the measured second current.

A current-mode end-to-end signal path can include a digital to analog converter (DAC) operating in current-mode and an upconverting mixer, operating in current-mode and operatively coupled to the DAC. Analog inputs and analog outputs of the DAC and the upconverting mixer can be represented as currents, and the DAC can generate a baseband signal. In one or more embodiments, a current source and a diode-connected transistor can be arranged in parallel in the current-mode signal path between a baseband filter and an output stage comprising the upconverting mixer. The device and/or system can be a radio frequency DAC. The diode-connected transistor can be programmable to vary gain and/or can be directly connected to the output stage absent a turnaround current mirror connected therebetween.
