The system includes a pump, a heat exchanger, a bladder, a thermometer, and a controller. The heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the pump. The bladder is configured to be placed over a carotid artery, and is in fluid communication with the heat exchanger. The thermometer is located with respect to the heat exchanger and configured to measure a temperature of fluid downstream from the heat exchanger. The controller is in electrical communication 28 with the thermometer and the heat exchanger. The controller is configured to 20 control power delivered to or flow through the heat exchanger such that the temperature of the fluid downstream from the heat exchanger measured by the thermometer is between 2 degrees C. and 10 degrees C. for between 10 minutes and 50 minutes.

System and method for treating brain injury

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a system for distraction osteogenesis of long bones. Selectively adjustable drive magnets disposed in the system can be used to distract the device. An external drive device generating a magnetic field may be used to rotate the drive in externally.

Distraction Osteogenesis system

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a system for noninvasive adjusting fastener tensioning has an elongated shaft having a slot defined therein. The shaft has a first end oppositely disposed from the second end. An associated rod or rods may pass through each end. Selectively adjustable fasteners may have a plurality of magnets disposed in the head of the fastener. An external drive device generating a magnetic field may be used to rotate the fasteners via the magnets in the fastener head externally without the need for surgery. The fasteners may move in and out from the shaft and contact the rod to adjust tensioning.
