Techniques for enhancing the security of a communication device when conducting a transaction using the communication device may include encrypting account information with a first encryption key to generate a second encryption key, and encrypting key index information using the second key to generate a limited-use key (LUK). The key index information may include a key index having information pertaining to generation of the LUK. The LUK and the key index can be provided to the communication device to facilitate generation of a transaction cryptogram for a transaction conducted using the communication device, and the transaction can be authorized based on the transaction cryptogram generated from the LUK.

Limited-use keys and cryptograms

Systems and methods are disclosed in which data associated with a transaction are protected with encryption. At an access device, a PIN associated with a payment account may be encrypted with a first key derived from an initial key of the access device and sensitive data associated with the payment account may be encrypted with a second key derived from the initial key. At a secure module associated with a host server encrypted sensitive data of an authorization request message may be decrypted. The secure module associated with the host server can re-encrypt the sensitive data using a zone encryption key associated with a payment processing network. A translated authorization request message including the re-encrypted sensitive data can be transmitted by the merchant server to the payment processing network.

Systems and methods for interoperable network token processing are provided. A network token system provides a platform that can be leveraged by external entities (e.g., third party wallets, e-commerce merchants, payment enablers/payment service providers, etc.) or internal payment processing network systems that have the need to use the tokens to facilitate payment transactions. A token registry vault can provide interfaces for various token requestors (e.g., mobile device, issuers, merchants, mobile wallet providers, etc.), merchants, acquirers, issuers, and payment processing network systems to request generation, use and management of tokens. The network token system further provides services such as card registration, token generation, token issuance, token authentication and activation, token exchange, and token life-cycle management.

Systems and methods for communicating risk using token assurance data

Embodiments are described that are directed to optimizing the provisioning of payment account credentials to mobile devices utilizing mobile wallets. In some embodiments, one of multiple provisioning schemes may be selectively chosen for payment account credential provisioning based upon a determined risk involved with a particular provisioning request. A low risk provisioning request leads to an immediate provisioning of a payment credential, whereas a provisioning request of high risk results in the provisioning request being denied. In some embodiments, medium risk provisioning requests will cause an additional user authentication to be performed before the payment account provisioning is finalized. The additional user authentication may occur using a separate communication channel than the channel in which the provisioning request was received.

Methods and systems for provisioning mobile devices with payment credentials

Client devices can send access request messages to resource management computers to request access to a resource. A data security hub can provide centralized routing between different client devices, resource management computers, and authentication data processing servers. The data security hub can reduce the risk of sensitive authentication information from leaking (e.g., due to a breach) by limiting the amount or types of authentication information distributed to the data processing servers. The data security hub can limited the authentication information being distributed based on its sensitivity, the trust level of the client device, and the security level of the requested resource. The data security hub can also evaluate the client devices and data processing servers to identify security breaches and can cancel or reroute access requests accordingly. Thus, the data security hub can maintain resource security while better preserving the privacy of the client device's authentication information.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods are provided for enabling a transaction using a token associated with a first payment network to be conducted using a second payment network. When a transaction using a token is submitted to a payment network, the payment network can determine the payment network associated with the token. If the token is associated with a second payment network, a token verification request including the token can be sent to the second payment network. The second payment network can then return a token verification response including a primary account identifier such as a primary account number (PAN) corresponding to the token and a validation result. The transaction may then be processed using the primary account identifier.

Provided is a computer-implemented method for authenticating a customer during payment transactions based on biometric identification parameters of the customer that includes receiving image data associated with an image template for identification of a customer, receiving image data associated with an image of a biometric identification parameter of the customer during a payment transaction between the customer and a merchant, establishing a short-range communication connection with a user device associated with the customer during the payment transaction between the customer and the merchant, authenticating an identity of the customer for the payment transaction via the short-range communication connection, determining an account identifier of an account of the customer based on authenticating the identity of the customer for the payment transaction, and processing the payment transaction using the account identifier of the account of the customer. A system and computer program product are also disclosed.

Authentication based on biometric identification parameter of an individual for payment transaction

Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, computer readable media and systems for providing, along with a token, a token assurance level and data used to generate the token assurance level. At the time a token is issued, one or more Identification and Verification (ID&V) methods may be performed to ensure that the token is replacing a PAN that was legitimately used by a token requestor. A token assurance level may be assigned to a given token in light of the type of ID&V that is performed and the entity performing the ID&V. Different ID&Vs may result in different token assurance levels. An issuer may wish to know the level of assurance and the data used in generating the level of assurance associated with a token prior to authorizing a payment transaction that uses the token.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, computer readable media and systems for securely processing remote transactions. One embodiment of the invention is directed to a method of processing a remote transaction initiated by a mobile device comprising a server computer receiving a payment request including encrypted payment information. The encrypted payment information being generated by a mobile payment application of the mobile device and being encrypted using a third party key. The method further comprises decrypting the encrypted payment information using the third party key, determining a transaction processor public key associated with the payment information, and re-encrypting the payment information using the transaction processor public key. The method further comprises sending a payment response including the re-encrypted payment information to a transaction processor. The transaction processor decrypts the re-encrypted payment information using a transaction processor private key and initiates a payment transaction.

Secure remote payment transaction processing

In a system for verifying transactions, when a user with a portable communication device nears a resource provider location, the portable communication device provides an indication to a transaction processing system of its proximity to the location. The portable communication device then provides a universally unique identifier (UUID) of a base station of the resource provider to the transaction processing system, which generates a hash using the UUID and a primary account number (PAN) of a portable transaction device that is associated with the portable communication device. When the user conducts a transaction with the portable transaction device at the provider, the provider generates a separate hash from the UUID and the PAN and sends the hash to the transaction processing system, A match between the hashes is taken into account as a positive indicator that the transaction is not fraudulent and the resource provider is complying with the system.

Multi-device authentication process and system utilizing cryptographic techniques

The invention is directed to a system that enables an authentication process that involves secure multi-party computation. The authentication process can be performed between a user device operated by a user and an access device. The user device and the access device may conduct the authentication process such that enrollment information and authentication information input by the user is not transmitted between the devices. Instead, the user device may determine and utilize obfuscated values associated with the authentication information. The user device may also determine an obfuscated authentication function that can be utilized to determine an authentication result without revealing enrollment information and authentication information associated with the user. The user can be authenticated based on the authentication result.

A first biometric sample of a user is received by an access device from a user device. First biometric information is generated in an obscured format, based on the first biometric sample. A plurality of biometric information is received in an obscured format. The plurality of biometric information corresponds to a plurality of users, and was obtained from biometric samples of the plurality of users. The first biometric information in the obscured format is compared to the plurality of biometric information in the obscured format, and a match result is generated based on the comparing. The match result is provided to a server computer. Based on the match result, information indicating that one of the plurality of users that is associated with one of the plurality of biometric information is the user associated with the first biometric information is received.

Biometric validation process utilizing access device and location determination

Described herein are a system and techniques for enabling biometric authentication without exposing the authorizing entity to sensitive information. In some embodiments, the system receives a biometric template from a user device which is encrypted using a public key associated with the system. The encrypted biometric template is then provided to a second entity along with a biometric identifier. Upon receiving a request to complete a transaction that includes the biometric identifier and a second biometric template, the second entity may encrypt the second biometric template using the same public key associated with the system and perform a comparison between the two encrypted biometric templates. The resulting match result data file is already encrypted and can be provided to the system to determine an extent to which the two biometric templates match.
