An anti-clogging or anti-bridging mechanism is disclosed which is structurally arranged to engage the nozzle ports in a cutting housing to seal the ports from pulverized road bed material. The mechanism further includes cable members which facilitate movement of the pulverized material through the cutting housing.

Anti-bridging mechanism

A paving machine having a sensor-controlled concrete metering screed. The machine includes hydraulic cylinders which move the metering screed to various elevations to control the depth of concrete being metered out by the screed. At least one ultrasonic sensor is slide-mounted to the machine above and behind the metering screed to provide measurements of the distance between the sensor and the surface of the concrete just behind the screed. A control system compares the sensor measurements with a tolerance range of distances corresponding to the desired depth of concrete. When the sensor measurements are out of tolerance, the control system moves the metering screed up or down to bring the distance, and the metered depth of concrete, back within tolerance.

A roadway breaker plate for a planer apparatus having a drum type planer cutter for removing the top portion of an existing roadway, the breaker plate providing a counteracting shearing force on the top portion of the roadway at a predetermined distance from the planer cutter whereby the top portion of the roadway removed by the planer cutter is removed in the form of cuttings generally of a uniform size.

A construction machine is provided with a flywheel having a torque limiter which permits the flywheel to slip when a rotationally driven cutting tool of the machine is halted. The torque limiter is spring loaded to eliminate the need for adjustment which might otherwise be occasioned by wear.

A slipform paving apparatus having a variable width frame assembly supported upon independently adjustable and steerable leg and track assemblies that are positionable in a paving profile or in a travelling profile. A detachable steering cable feedback and follower assembly interconnects a track assembly on one side to the respective track assembly on the other side, providing potential single side steering control. Road building implements include in sequence and in close proximity a traversing paddle assembly, a height adjustable vibrator assembly, a variable height strike-off assembly, a vibrated grout screed assembly, a profile pan assembly, and a float pan assembly cooperating with retractable slipforming means to form a finished concrete road lane upon a substrate. The implements are modularly designed so as to be capable of being parted and increased in road width building capability by the interdisposition of extension attachments between sections of each implement.
