A method is provided for balancing a rotating member having an annular balancing groove which is configured to receive and retain a balancing projectile. The method includes determining a circumaxial imbalance location, and firing a balancing projectile in timed relationship with the rotation of the member so that the balancing projectile enters the groove at the imbalance location. Such steps are repeated as required to cure additional points of imbalance.

An improved centrifugal impeller having between 20 and 26 rearwardly curved blades blades, a ratio of blade annulus width to wheel radius between 0.31 and 0.37, and an inlet blade angle in the range 32&#xb0; to 36&#xb0; and a discharge blade angle in the range 36&#xb0; to 40&#xb0;.

A rotatable member is adapted for dynamic balancing by the addition of balancing weights in the form of high speed projectiles fired at the member during rotation in timed relationship with the rotation of the member so as to impact the member at specific circumaxial locations required for balancing the member. The member has an annular groove for receiving the projectiles and securing the same at the desired locations. The groove has a cross sectional configuration slightly smaller than that of the projectile in at least one direction of measurement so as to engage and capture the projectile in retention in the groove.

An improved bearing mount sleeve and method of making same. The sleeve has a radial flange and body portion projecting therefrom. First and second shoulders in the body portion seat large and small bearings respectively. Crush ribs apply radial preloading and wave washers apply axial preloading. The sleeve is located by tabs on its flange and a locating element projecting from the end opposite the flange A series of drawing steps result in the sleeve form and piercing and forming steps complete the sleeve at economic advantage.

A light-weight electric motor driven fluid pump assembly having a molded thermoplastic housing of two parts which form a fluid impervious rotor chamber, a stationary shaft journalled in the housing parts within the chamber and carrying a magnetic rotor and a fluid impeller driven thereby. The housing parts also define inlet and discharge ports in communication with the rotor chamber adjacent the impeller blades. One portion of the housing of one housing part defines a cylindrical thin walled tubular configuration with a cylindrical exterior surface for mounting a stator thereabout. The housing parts are welded together at mating surfaces with the result that neither static nor dynamic seals are required in the assembly.

Light-weight electric motor driven fluid pump assembly

An air treatment system having a relatively large capacity yet a relatively small footprint and low sound level. The air treatment system includes a housing defining adjacent vertically extending inlet and outlet chambers. A blower is mounted within the inlet chamber to move air through the system. A generally planar filter is contained within the outlet chamber and is spaced apart from the rear wall of the housing to define a plenum. The rear wall of the housing is curved so that the plenum is tapered to provide uniform pressure over the face of the filter. The system is adapted to rest upon the floor or mount either vertically or horizontal to a wall. Additionally, the system includes a control mechanism that allows the system to run at full speed for a predetermined period of time and then automatically return to its previous speed level.
