A vehicle inlet is disclosed for use in charging a battery of an electric vehicle or a hybrid-electric vehicle. The vehicle inlet includes a housing, a luminance engine having at least one light emitting diode, and a luminance member configured for attachment to the housing and for cooperation with the luminance engine. The luminance member is adapted for illumination by the at least one light emitting diode of the luminance engine based on an ambient light level having a value less than a threshold for a predetermined time period.

A system and method operable to facilitate thermal wall plug sensing and control may include an ability to control current drawn by a charging system or other load according to a temperature determined at an interface between the charging system and an energy source used to provided energy to the charging system. A temperature sensed with a temperature sensor included in a plug assembly or other housing or cord used to connect the charging system to the energy source may be used to implement the temperature regulated current control.

A vehicle seat assembly includes a seating surface, wherein the seating surface defines a plurality of temperature controlled zones. At least one electrically actuated heating/cooling source provides one of heating and cooling to the plurality of zones. A controller individually controls electrical power supplied from the source to each zone and is operative to reduce power consumption in one zone relative to another zone in accordance with a predetermined profile designed to limit the overall power consumption of the assembly.

The message may detail the emergency and/or an evacuation strategy for avoiding the emergency. Different vehicles may receive different messages and instructions depending on vehicle location and other parameters.

A charge handle for use in charging a plug-in vehicle having a charge port includes a body having a receptacle for engaging the charge port to provide for charging the vehicle. A latch rotatably mounted to the body has a first end for securing the engagement of the receptacle to the charge port, and has a second end. An actuator lever is rotatably mounted to the body. The actuator lever has a first end connected to the second end of the latch, and has a second end. A trigger mechanism includes a trigger located on the opposite side of the body from the latch. The trigger mechanism is arranged such that depressing the trigger pushes the second end of the actuator lever to rotate the actuator lever to cause the latch to rotate and disengage the receptacle from the charge port.

Supervised and unsupervised seat folding of the type wherein supervised or unsupervised seating folding is permitted as function of whether a user is within a particular proximity to a seat being folded. The proximity being determined according to any number of parameters, such as but not limited whether the user is able to view the folding seat.

A method of tracking, identifying, and determining the presence and status of an in-vehicle RF tagged element () includes transmitting a status request signal. The status request signal is inductively received via multiple radio frequency identification tags () that are associated with the in-vehicle RF tagged element (). A current status signal is transmitted from the radio frequency identification tags (). An in-vehicle task is performed in response to the current status signal.

RFID systems for vehicular applications

A seat assembly includes a seat defining an outer seating surface. An adjustment mechanism is mounted on the seat and includes a member movable relative to the seating surface for altering the contoured shape of the seating surface. A sensor is mounted on the seat. The sensor detects the location of an applied force acting on the seating surface by an occupant seated on the seat back and detects an applied pressure distribution of the force exerted on the seating surface. The sensor supplies a signal indicative of the location of the applied force and the applied pressure distribution of the force. A controller receives the signal and is operable by a seat occupant for storing information corresponding to the location of the applied force and the applied pressure distribution of the force. The controller is operable to move the member by the adjustment mechanism from an initial position to a subsequent position dependent on a subsequent detection of a location of a second applied force and an applied pressure distribution of the force detected by the sensor.

Vehicle seat lumbar system

Method and system to alert drivers to driving related information thought controlling information displayed on one or more roadside displays. The displayed information may related to traffic flow, road conditions, emergencies, and any other type of information. Optionally, the displayed information may be determined at least in part of data collected from onboard the vehicles.

A seat folding apparatus is provided with a passive Rf frequency link that requires that a person be within a certain limited distance from the vehicle to operate the seat folding mechanism. A foreign object detection system, such as a plurality of weight sensors, is provided in the seat to detect foreign objects on the seat.
