Devices and methods are disclosed for orthopedic uses, such as treating and compressing a broken bone. An implantable device may be provided with an elongate body, a head region, a bone engagement part such as an anchor region or threads, a dynamic compression portion in either a first axially compact configuration or a second axially elongated configuration and configured to transform between the first axially compact configuration and the second axially elongated configuration, and a sleeve slidably located over the dynamic compression portion and configured to inhibit the dynamic compression portion from expanding radially outward.

A system for implant delivery includes an implant and an inserter. The implant includes a body that extends between first and second ends. The implant includes retainers extending outwardly from the first and second ends. The retainers are received in corresponding jaws of the inserter. When the implant is connected to the inserter and the inserter is actuated, the implant elastically deforms.

When the shuttle first stop distal end is in contact with the first jaw first stop, the shuttle can be passively retained in the first jaw. Systems, apparatuses and methods for securing tissue to bone using a bone anchoring system are described. Methods and apparatuses may allow transformation between locked and unlocked states, thereby allowing adjustment of the tension in the suture. The apparatus and/or methods may allow unidirectional movement of a suture, while preventing slippage or movement of the suture and tissue in the opposite direction. Ends of a suture may be individually tensioned to adjust positioning of a tissue with respect to a bone.

Eyeglass assemblies include an eyeglass lens having an engaging portion. The invention provides systems and methods for sternum repair. A sternum repair device may include a central body, which may include a plurality of bands and buckles, such that a band extends from the central body and is received by a buckle component. The band may wrap around the sternum and the device may be tightened to keep the separate sternum pieces together. Various band tensioning devices, systems and methods are disclosed.

The drive element () of the non-manual actuator () may apply a movement force to the adapter (), which then pushes the movable element () within the medicament container () to inject medicament into a patient.

The invention provides systems and methods for sternum repair. A sternum repair device may include a central body, which may include a plurality of bands and buckles, such that a band extends from the central body and is received by a buckle component. The band may wrap around the sternum and the device may be tightened to keep the separate sternum pieces together.

The present invention is directed to a method of securing suture within a patient. The method comprises advancing suture material into the patient, passing a portion of the suture material through tissue of the patient, and advancing a fastener catheter and a suture fastener along the suture material. The fastener catheter includes a catheter main body and a handle. The suture fastener has a generally cylindrical body formed of a shape memory material and a suture fastener inner lumen. The suture fastener has at least one engagement tab biased to extend at least partially into the suture fastener inner lumen to engage against and secure one or more lines of suture passing through the suture fastener.
