A rocket engine comprises first and second rotary injectors for injecting respective fuel and oxidizer propellant components into a first combustion chamber, and the effluent therefrom drives a turbine that rotates the rotary injectors. The mixture within the first combustion chamber is preferably fuel-rich so as to reduce the associated combustion temperature, and the fuel-rich effluent mixes in a second combustion chamber with additional oxidizer injected by a third rotary injector so as to generate a high temperature effluent suitable for propulsion. The rotary injectors are adapted so as to isolate the low pressure propellant supply from the relatively high pressures in the respective combustion chambers.

Rocket engine

An environmental control unit to supply cool dry air to an aircraft cabin has a plurality of bleed air sources from an aircraft engine compressor supplying working fluid to an air cycle cooling circuit. An electronic control computer having a plurality of inputs and selects a bleed air source depending upon cabin cooling and pressurization requirements. A speed control valve responsive to an output from the control computer, modulates the flow of working fluid through a turbo-alternator, thereby synchronizing the frequency of electrical power produced by the turbo-alternator with that of an aircraft engine alternator. The turbo-alternator supplies additional electrical power to the aircraft, thereby minimizing the deleterious effect of warm air bled from the engine compressor on aircraft performance.

Environment control unit for turbine engine

The instant invention generally relates to a forwardly swept wing 10 for an aircraft comprised of a pair of opposed single piece machined aluminum alloy wing boxes 20 and 40. Specifically, the invention provides for a forward swept wing construction utilizing known in the art computer numerical control machining techniques to produce an aluminum alloy wing 10 having an integral leading edge 24 thereby greatly reducing assembly time. A plurality of integral stiffeners 80 oriented at a forwardly swept angle of approximately 12 to 13 degrees between forward 62 and rear 64 spars provides for a wing 10 that minimizes the effects of aeroelastic divergence.

A gear system for driving a pair of rotary loads, such as a pair of helicopter rotors operating in ambient air, with a single rotary input comprises a planetary gear train, the sun gear of which is driven by the rotary input, and the planetary gear carrier and annulus gear of which respectively drive the loads via output shafts coupled thereto by suitable first and second coupling means, respectively. Where rotary outputs of substantially equal torque are desired, as where the rotors are of like dimension, one of the output couplings further comprises speed-reduction gearing and/or means for driving an auxiliary unit with the second output. An idler gear is further employed where the rotors are to rotate in opposite directions.

Dual output planetary gear system

A low labor, highly efficient process and system for manufacturing chocolate coated ice cream cookie sandwiches is achieved by incorporating conveyor means for transporting the ice cream cookie sandwich through the various stages of its manufacture along with uniquely constructed ice cream brick slicing machines and a unique chocolate coating machine. In addition, a pass-through freezer is preferably employed prior to the chocolate coating, in order to assure a high quality, tasty product. The ice cream slicing machine of the present invention employed in the process and manufacturing system of this invention is constructed for receiving a plurality of ice cream bricks and cutting each brick into a plurality of slices in an efficient, automatic, integrated operational procedure and presenting each ice cream slice to a holding zone for placement on a cookie moving along the conveyor means. In addition, the chocolate coating machine of the present invention incorporated into the process and manufacturing system of this invention incorporates a plurality of clamp means controllably driven about the coating machine and positioned for receiving the ice cream cookie sandwich and automatically submerging the sandwich in a chocolate bath and automatically releasing the chocolate-coated ice cream cookie sandwich when the chocolate coating has completely cooled and dried.

Apparatus for making chocolate-coated ice cream cookie sandwiches

A medium bypass turbofan engine including a fan mounted on a low pressure shaft and positioned at the inlet of the engine; an intermediate pressure single-stage axial compressor carried by the low pressure shaft and positioned to receive a working airstream portion of the air discharged by the fan; a single-stage high pressure centrifugal compressor positioned to receive the output of the intermediate pressure compressor and carried by a high pressure shaft received telescopically over the low pressure shaft; an annular burner positioned to receive the output of the high pressure compressor; an annular slinger carried by the low pressure shaft and arranged to inject fuel into the burner; a high pressure single-stage axial turbine positioned to receive the output of the burner and carried by the high pressure shaft; and a low pressure multi-stage axial turbine positioned to receive the output of the high pressure turbine and carried by the low pressure shaft.

Method and apparatus for making chocolate-coated ice cream cookie

The disclosure relates to an improved recuperative heat exchanger for a turbine engine. Heat exchanger modules have discrete passages therein for the relatively high pressure compressor discharge air and relative low pressure exhaust gases. A continuous seal is provided at each end of the exhaust passages in the heat exchanger that is expandable into positive engagement with the heat exchange module.

Recuperated turbine engine

The present scraper has a flat base and solid V-shaped scraping elements on the bottom of the base which are elongated parallel to each other in uninterrupted fashion continuously between opposite convex edges of the base. Extending up from the base is a handle which is T-shaped in cross-section perpendicular to direction of elongation of the scraping elements.
