A method of providing cross-media event linking may include: receiving, at a first input of an event coreferencing system, a stream of social media postings, and at a second input, a stream of news articles; generating, by the event coreferencing system, a first set of event representations representing events referenced by the social media postings, and a second set of event representations representing events referenced by the news articles; determining, by the event coreferencing system, that at least one of the social media postings references a same event referenced by at least one of the news articles, the determining including determining at least one similarity using data of at least one of the first set of event representations corresponding to the at least one of the social media postings and data of at least one of the second set of event representations corresponding to the at least one of the news articles; and transmitting, by an output of the event resolution system to the user system, an alert including at least one coreferenced event representation representing the event referenced by the at least one of the social media postings and the at least one of the news articles.

Systems and methods for cross-media event detection and coreferencing

The articles with spinning globe include articles worn by a user and containers in which a spinning or rotating globe is disposed. The articles of apparel may be a shirt, a pair of pants a hat or other wearing apparel. The container may be a backpack, a purse, a suitcase, a lunchbox or other carrying container. The rotating globe is mounted in the articles of apparel and the containers so that a user may manually rotate the globe within the articles of apparel or the containers. The rotating globe may be placed in any of the articles and used by children as an educational tool to learn about geography, or by adults to note specific time zones when traveling or determine where a specific country is in relation to other countries.

The educational toy includes a toy figure having a body, a frame affixed within a portion of the body, and an earth globe disposed within the frame. The globe is configured to rotate within the frame. The globe is configured to represent the earth, and has outlines representing the continents and at least larger countries or geographical regions, and may have contours representing mountains or other features. The globe may alternatively be retained on an outstretched hand or limb of a figure and may be rotated on a shaft attached to the limb or limbs of the figure. Optionally, the educational toy may be illuminated, play back an educational audio message, or include a motor for rotating the globe.

The scalloped edge dustpan is eliminates the line of dust or debris that is often left on the floor when dust or debris is swept in to a conventional, straight-edge dustpan. is a dustpan in which the front or leading edge of the base or blade has is formed with a continuous series of semicircular segments or protrusions forming a scalloped edge. The scallops may be beveled so that the scalloped edge tapers downward towards the front of the base. The dustpan may be formed with the base and the leading edge formed as a single piece of material, or the scalloped edge may be formed as a strip attached to the front of a dustpan blades leading edge by adhesive or fasteners.
