A process for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir includes injecting a gas, at a pressure below a minimum miscibility pressure, into the reservoir through an injection well extending into the reservoir to form a gas zone in the reservoir. The gas injection pressure is suitable to provide a differential pressure between a bottom-hole production well pressure at a horizontal multi-lateral production well extending into the reservoir, and the gas injection pressure to facilitate sweeping the hydrocarbons toward the production well prior to gas breakthrough at the production well. The method also includes producing a portion of the hydrocarbons to surface through the production well, monitoring the production well for the gas breakthrough, and after the gas breakthrough is detected producing a further portion of the hydrocarbons by a gas gravity drainage process in which hydrocarbons are drained toward the production well, and controlling continued production of the hydrocarbons through the production well.

Process for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir

A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir by operating a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process with two adjacent well pairs. Each well pair includes an injector well and a producer well. A mobilized zone forms around each well pair through the gravity-controlled recovery process, and a bypassed region forms between the adjacent well pairs when the respective mobilized zone of each well pair merge to form a common mobilized zone. A plurality of infill producer wells are provided in the bypassed region. The plurality of infill producer wells are operated to establish fluid communication between the plurality of infill producer wells and the common mobilized zone. Once fluid communication is established, the plurality of infill producer wells and the adjacent well pairs are operated under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, and hydrocarbons are recovered from the plurality of infill producer wells and from the producer wells.

Multiple infill wells within a gravity-dominated hydrocarbon recovery process

A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir by operating a first injector-producer well pair under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, the first injector-producer well pair forming a first mobilized zone, operating a second injector-producer well pair under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, the second injector-producer well pair forming a second mobilized zone, the first injector-producer well pair and the second injector-producer well pair together being the adjacent well pairs, providing an infill well in a bypassed region, the bypassed region formed between the adjacent well pairs when the first mobilized zone and the second mobilized zone merge to form a common mobilized zone, operating the infill well to establish fluid communication between the infill well and the common mobilized zone, operating the infill well and the adjacent well pairs under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, and recovering hydrocarbons from the infill well.

Recovery process

The inventive mechanism uses several sub-systems to generate outputs from the stereo input signal. A first sub-system synthesizes the phantom center output, which places the monaural center image between the left and right speakers in front of the listener. A second sub-system synthesizes the virtual surround (or rear) output signals, which places the sound images to the sides of the listener. A third sub-system synthesizes the left and right stereo outputs, and expands the locations of the left and right sound images.

Matrix surround decoder/virtualizer

Input sound signals are accepted for presentation to a plurality of speakers where the number of physically present speakers is less than the number of input sound signals. The accepted signals are expanded and summed in a manner such that a listener perceives sounds as coming from the same number of speakers as there are input signals while having less speakers actually operational. In one embodiment there is shown a five input system having only two speakers. The system is functional when the inputs are stereo or monaural and when there are all five speakers available.

Full sound enhancement using multi-input sound signals

The inventive mechanism produces multiple output signals from a two-channel stereo input signal. The mechanism produces a first pair of output signals which retain the monaural information in the stereo input signal. The first pair of signals each comprise a combination of one of the input channels and filtered signal produced from a difference of both input channels. The mechanism produces a second pair of output signals which lacks the monaural information. The second pair of output signals each comprise a combination of one of the input channels and an inverse filtered signal produced from a difference of both input channels. Q-filters are used to provide the various filtered signals.

Qsound surround synthesis from stereo

Monaural inputs are accepted for presentation to a pair of speakers. The output sound image from that pair of speakers is such that a listener will perceive that the sound is stereo and that certain sounds come from a non-existent center speaker and that other sounds come from locations beyond the physical boundaries of the two speakers. The system operates to preserve full tone range at both speakers and does not split the sound from a particular instrument between both speakers. The system can be used to provide sound signals to the rear speakers of a multiple speaker system when the sound input to the rear speakers is either monaural or stereo.
