A closure structure for a container includes a closure body having a deck and a depending skirt, the skirt being adapted to be mounted on a container neck or formed with the container. A dispensing orifice is formed through the deck. A protruding member extends from a surface of the deck, the protruding member including a first locking ledge at an intermediate position along a length of the protruding member. A lid, hinged at one side to the closure body at a position opposite to the protruding member, has a socket on a side of the lid opposite the hinge. The socket has a receiver cavity open in an axial direction of the lid and includes a second locking ledge extending radially within the receiver cavity. The first and second locking ledges are engageable when the protruding member is positioned sufficiently within the receiver cavity when the lid is initially closed to the body. The engagement of the first and second locking ledges prevents the lid from being opened from the body, the socket and the protruding member being connected to the lid and the body respectively by frangible elements. The body includes an inset on a surface thereof below the protruding member, and the lid includes an apron extending from the socket. The apron and the inset being shaped and configured such that the apron fits within the inset to be flush with adjoining surfaces of the annular skirt of the body when the lid is engaged to the body.

Locking tamper-evident dispensing closure

A one-piece dispensing structure is molded by a process combining a co-injection molding first phase with a bi-injection molding second phase. In the first phase, a skin material and core material are co-injected into a mold cavity first region to form most of the major portion of the closure body. Subsequently, a movable shut-off member is retracted to expose an intermediate region which (1) is adjacent the closure structure hinge area and which (2) establishes communication between the mold cavity first region and another part of the mold cavity defining the closure lid portion. The skin material is injected through a second gate directly into the cavity intermediate region to fill the cavity intermediate region and the closure lid portion of the mold cavity. The skin material in the cavity intermediate region bonds to the previously injected skin material in the cavity first region adjacent the closure hinge.

One-piece dispensing structure and method and apparatus for making same

A closure is provided for a container and includes a base and a lid. The base includes a body for mounting to the container, and the body defines a dispensing orifice. A tamper-evident seal extends across the dispensing orifice. The lid includes a peripheral frame, a flexible panel, and a penetrator member extending from the panel for penetrating the seal.

A dispensing structure is provided for a container that has an opening to the container interior. A membrane initially occludes the container opening. A cover extends over the container opening and over the membrane. The cover has a peripheral frame and a panel that is connected to the frame. The panel has a dome-like, outwardly convex configuration defining a dispensing aperture and is normally biased outwardly. The panel can be moved to an inverted, inwardly concave configuration. A dispensing valve is disposed in the cover across the dispensing aperture. A penetrator extends from the panel inwardly of the dispensing valve for penetrating the membrane when the panel is in the inwardly concave configuration.

A dispensing structure is provided for a container that has an opening to the container interior. The dispensing structure includes a body for extending around the container opening and defining and access passage for access through the container opening. The body includes a chamber for receiving an additive product for adding to the container. The chamber has an initially closed upper end and has a bottom end defining a bottom end opening. A movable, bottom end closure is provided for releasably closing the chamber bottom end opening. A deformable cover is mounted to the body to accommodate deformation from an undeformed condition at which the bottom end closure closes the chamber bottom end opening to a deformed condition at which the bottom end closure is engaged and moved by the cover to a position that opens the chamber bottom end opening.

Sealed dispensing closure with a sealed penetrator

A dispensing structure is provided for a container that has an opening to the container interior which can be initially closed by a membrane occluding the opening. The dispensing structure includes a body for extending around the container opening over the membrane. The body includes a peripheral wall and a flexible panel. The panel is connected with the peripheral wall, extends around a dispensing aperture, is normally biased to an outwardly displaced configuration as viewed from outside the body, and accommodates movement of the panel to an inwardly displaced configuration. The body also includes a penetrator extending inwardly from the panel for penetrating the membrane when the panel is in the inwardly displaced configuration. The dispensing structure also includes a cover for accommodating movement between a closed position over the body and an open position away from the closed position. The cover includes a peripheral frame mounted on the body, and a convex top. The convex top is connected with the peripheral frame, is normally biased to an outwardly convex configuration as viewed from outside the cover, and accommodates flexure of the top to a self-maintained, inverted, inwardly concave configuration for moving the body panel to the inwardly displaced configuration wherein the penetrator penetrates the membrane.

A closure is provided for a container and includes a base. The base includes a body for mounting to the container, and the body defines a dispensing orifice. A tamper-evident seal initially closes the dispensing orifice. The seal has a removable central portion occluding the orifice and at least a first frangible web defining a closed tear path lying in a plane connecting the seal central portion to a surrounding part of the closure. The seal central portion includes a hollow projection having a base located in the plane with one part of the base closer to the first frangible web than is any other part of the base. An outwardly directed force of sufficient magnitude applied to the projection will produce a tear which extends through the first frangible web at a point on the first frangible web closest to the one part of the projection base. The tear thereafter propagates from that point around the seal central portion so as to separate the seal central portion from the closure and thereby open the seal.

A closure is provided for a container and includes a base which preferably has an attached lid. The base includes a body for mounting to the container, and the body defines a dispensing orifice and spout. A tamper-evident seal initially closes the dispensing orifice. The body is injection molded from a first material. The tamper-evident seal structure is subsequently injection-molded from a second material. The seal structure includes a peripheral portion molded against the base body and attached thereto. The seal structure includes a partition consisting only of the second material extending across the dispensing orifice and connected around its periphery to the seal structure peripheral portion with a frangible, reduced thickness section of the second material. A grip member extends from the partition for being pulled to tear only the partition and grip member together away from the seal structure peripheral portion so as to open the dispensing orifice.

A tamper-evident closure is provided with a base having a deck with a discharge aperture. A lid is included for covering the discharge aperture on the base. The lid defines a latch aperture. The base has a resilient locking lever that projects from the base deck and through the lid latch aperture when the lid is closed. The lever engages the lid and holds the lid closed. A tamper-indicating element is provided on the lid to prevent operation of the lever. The element is attached to the lid with frangible portions which can be broken when sufficient force is applied to remove at least a part of the element and permit operation of the lever whereby another part of the element remains on the lid to provide evidence that part of the element has been removed.

Closure with a tamper-evident element

A dispensing closure is provided with a body having an outlet passage. A sleeve is mounted on the body for rotation relative to the body. The sleeve has a transverse deck defining a discharge passage for communicating with the body outlet passage as the discharge passage moves in an arc relative to the body. In one embodiment, a seal is provided between the sleeve deck and the body around the outlet passage and discharge passage. In a preferred embodiment, an actuator is mounted on the sleeve for rotation with the sleeve. Engaging structures are defined by the body and actuator for tilting actuator between a closed position and an open position while the actuator is rotated with the sleeve. The actuator includes engaging portions for engagement with drive members projecting upwardly from the body through openings in the sleeve. Engagement between the drive members and actuator is effected on opposite sides of the pivot axis of the actuator so as to effect tilting of the actuator between an open position and a closed position.
